In honor of my renewed interest in BFG, let's have a thread about the names of your ships and squadrons. I want to hear what sorts of things you've come up with and present all my terribly "clever" ideas. Also, I've got some new ships and squads to name, and I'm looking for inspiration.

Well I have recently taken inspiration from Halo and their way of naming ships. I thought it most appropriate for the Eldar, so I have given them to my Corsair Eldar fleet.

Void Stalker - Passes into Memory
Void Stalker - Totality of Regret
Supernova - Spirit of Fire
Shadow - Vanity in Shadow
Eclipse - Pillar of Autumn
Eclipse - Forward unto Dawn

This is as far as I've gotten at the moment. I will name the rest of my fleet at some point.

I use Latin names for my SM ships because my chapter has Roman background.

For common ships like SC I usually name it with names of European cities like... Londinium, Barcino, Segesta, Mediolanum...

Capital ships have more personal names... for example my Venerable BB (counts as Seditio Oppimere BFG:R) is called Imperatoris Pugni (Fist of the Emperor) because it strikes at close range. It's a bit difficult because my Latin is quite rusty.. but with my old Latin books from school I try to do my best. 

The escorts are named as escuadrons like Lupus Alae (Wolves Wing).

For the Imperial Navy I use English & French ship names from the Age of Sail.

Wrath and Ruin (probably what you were going for)
Death and Destruction (credited to the good Baron)
Crash & Burn
Blood & Gore
Boom & Bust
Eradicate & Annihilate
Smash & Tear
Tyranny & Villainy

If you don't mind a few added suggestions:
Sigrid's Fury & Sigrid's Wrath
The Revenant & The Necromancer
The Brother's Grimm (ha just kidding )

You could also try something involving the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Or legendary twins from mythology.

Be warned that when you call your Slaughter Otus to people around you, they will probably laugh because they may thing you are referring to it as a big stereotypical hick from the south US (no offense, my southern brothers...)
