Mystery Ships
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:19:58 PM »
Hey all. I'm glad to be back, with the happy announcement that I've just scored a ton of BFG ships at a local flea market. In addition to the Imperial ships, which I know well because that's my faction of choice, I also scored a small crowd of Chaos escorts that I can't place. I was wondering if you could lend a hand. Some of the ships are, obviously, not quite fully assembled. The lot came with a small handful of bits.

First set of two identical ships:

Second set of two identical ships:

The final four, each different from the others:

And while I'm asking advice... can anyone recommend a battleship and cruisers that would go well with these? I've decided to hang on to these and make a Chaos fleet that I can use to demo the game with folks.

Hi!

Your first two pairs are Infidel raiders (just different model variants), and your last group are 3 Idolator raiders, with another Infidel on the far right.

A Despoiler battleship would give you a good load of AC, and taking Carnages will give you a strong gun line. Or if you wanting a faster fleet, a Desolater and Slaughters would be best.

What do you have in the way of capital ships?
I refuse to be killed by something I've never heard of.

At the moment, I have no Chaos capital ships. I'll be getting some, though.

Nice catch! I am a big fan of the Desolator. I would go with desolator, carnages, Acherons, devastators,  or despoiler, hades, murders, slaughters. I also consider a Styx depending on the fleet I took. I like to keep my escorts as emergency responders and often use them as surprise strikers. Having 5-6 Infidels hit you in one turn can really hurt.
