Reserves rules
« on: May 08, 2013, 11:18:15 PM »
So my copy of Armada is still in the process of shipping with my Household goods from my last duty station in japan and I can't remember the rules on fleet reserves.

Is it you can take one vessel from another fleet for every 3 in its class in the fleet you are using?

That's it!

Bearing in mind, that having 3 cruiser type ships allows you to take ANY cruiser type ship, from Light through to Grand!

Thanks. Makes coming up with the rest of the list much easier, especially in choosing Battlecruisers.

One more question: How do people typically treat ships from the additional ships compendium? Like they are reserves?

I would say yes, unless the ship in question is part of the fleet list your using. I dont know many people that would have a problem using any of those ships but make sure your friends are aware theyre not standard.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

That can be a thorny issue...

On the whole, anything that hasn't been made official in Armada or 2010 can only be used by player permission. I assume in that case you'd take as appropriate (a Nemesis carrier as a battleship and so on).

Personally, my BFG gaming is mainly done with my long-time gaming friend, and we frankly take what we want, when we want. A little loose, but that's what we like! ;)

On the other hand we have purists who will have absolutely NOTHING to do with anything unofficial. Trying not to pigeon-hole here, but I find these people are generally from the tournament circuits (the "hardcore"), as opposed to more casual gamers. It all boils down to you opponent really.
Not trying to rub anyone the wrong way with that last line, that just comes from personal experience. I obviously got the wrong opponents!

hope that helps!
