Digganob
« on: April 20, 2009, 09:04:19 AM »
Hello, anybody still play it? Can't remember but I think there wasn't a Gorkamorka board on the old SG forum, glad it's here. I got to admit that I haven't played it for years, but just recently I got my hands on a copy of Digganob expansion and got sucked again. There's just something about the setting of this game that's so great. And the whole idea of mutant nomads , introduced in this book, fighting a holy war against the orks is simply brilliant, just as commie gretchins ;D That's why I wanted to ask - is it ok to post "Digganob" pdf here? Becouse it's rather rare and not many people have it. I guess not becouse GW never put it on their website but on the other hand they hosted rules and uver books and it's a OOP expansion.

Excellent question. At the moment I would not offer it just yet. I checked with Andy Hall on this last year they did not want to post the Digganob rules as are no models to support them.

I will check again.

Heck yeah! The Diggas were my faction of choice in GorkaMorka. I've always been a Mad Max fan, and thus couldn't resist having my own Diggamob.

You know, technically there are no models for 75% of the items in the gorkamorka rulebooks either.

I own Digganob, and not having a model line did not stop me from buying a new trukk, and converting a mix of catachan and marauder bits to create a Diggas mob.

There's the box o grots out now which is great, and you could convert whatever you choose for the muties (i'm personally about to start a gang using kroot knarloc rider models).
It'd be very cool to spread the love if at all possible, after all I am quite sure that the cost of hosting the PDF file would be made up for by sales of stuff to nutjobs such as I.

Like what? I was under the impression that Gorkamorka was fairly complete. Do you mean availability? Even some of the bionic bitz had blisters and figs at one point.

Yeah, availability to purchase. No yoof models, no Kannons, six shootas, half of the big guns, etc. You still need to convert stuff for your ork mob otherwise you have to say that most things are counts as, so why not the digganob mobs?

Oh yeah, then when you talk about current availability, then I'd say the game is very incomplete. However, I'm pretty sure everything was produced at one point.

As far as I know everything was available except for a specific model of Da Krusher- probably some mutie weapon combos too, but I never owned those!

There were also muties models, check the ccm wiki and you'll see.

But nothing beats the Red Gobbo and his Kommittee.

There are old GM models out there. It was a decent game (for a SG Game) meaning it was nicely put together but in short order no more support so given those circumstances I believe my fellow Forumites are trying to say there was a lot available for it.

Trying to find all the GM models is quite difficult but as noted by the others look up the info on the web and maybe you can convert them as noted by others.

This does tend to be a theme with SG that if it no longer has a model, the rules are somehow worthless.  Why else would pretty much all of Outlanders disappear?  Ironically though it isn't getting the models that's the problem with pit slave gangs.

My feeling is this - most fanatics of a game (and if you've stuck with SG you're little else) are going to be able to make their own models.  Models are easy to make and get (although the profit is rarely going to GW) but the rules aren't so easy to replace, especially as SG rules are typically available on the internet, the reasoning that there's no models just doesn't sit well with me.  For a start it's mostly a game for Ork players, and Ork players (like myself) are converting-tastic loonies - we really don't need an excuse for that kind of behaviour.

It just seems a shame that the game should suffer because there are no obvious models.  When I talk about Digganob, half of the people don't know what I'm on about.  I have the book, but not that many of us do!

The rules are still available aren't they in the download section? I thought I saw them but I might have missed them.

If you look hard enough you can find the rules on the net. I tried to get Digganob posted on the last SG forum but the request was denied.

The Two Main Gorka Morka Books are available for down load on the GW web site under Specialist Games and then Out of Print games.
