I also am in favor of standardized transports for all races. (Except CW and Corsair Eldar, maybe, they could use their transports.)

As has been pointed out already, many races do not have transport ships at all, so there's no point in worrying about it not being fluffy. A tyranid fleet with imperial transports attached is no less fluffy than a tyranid fleet with dedicated transports period, so what's the difference? (It could be more fluffy, maybe they're from a genestealer cult!) Also, making up rules that follow the normal ship rules could be hugely beneficial for some fleets. For example, if the Necron transports follow Necron rules, they're way more durable than a standard transport. Are there going to be fewer of them, or they'll be worth less, or what? How will this be balanced?

Thus is why I'm putting these questions out now.  I'm still trying to balance everything out for Adepticon.  It's looking more and more though like we will go with the Standardized transports with the exception of the pansy Eldar.  Necrons will be disallowed escort carriers though since they don't have fighters.

They couldn't make use of captured carriers? Not that I really care, but it seems odd that they would not. That aside I think it should probably be limited to standard transport types anyway, no q ships, armed freighters, escort carriers etc. Its already going to be an issue for some people that have never had a need for these ships that now need to collect some so simple is better. On that thought have you considered finding some "house" ships for transports incase someone shows that doesn't have any.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

I'll probably convert up some myself.  I guess we could still allow the escort carriers for them.

The transport thing is going to be clearly stated in the fleet construction rules and there will be a side prize for the best transport flotilla.

Oh, that's  good idea! It's always fun to have some incentive to make cool custom models. I know that as soon as I read that my mind switched gears from 'I think this is going to be more trouble than it's worth' to 'I wonder what cool models I can come up with?' ;D

Yep.  While the rules for your transports are going to be standardized,  the models you use should be appropriate to your fleet.

Indeed, standard transports for all.

Background story: a very wealthy (ores, materials, tech, aero, etc etc) transport flotilla had been lost in the warp for millennia. Now it has
returrned to normal space at various locations in a subsystem. And now every fleet wants to get away with parts of it. :)

Alas, this means no transports for alien races but still the option to kitbash any kind of transport being somewhat 'human'.
