« on: October 28, 2011, 09:35:59 PM »
Just thought i'd post a few pics to track the progress of my latest fleet. After a few defeats with the rogue traders i've decided to include Rogue Traders as part of my Imperial fleet.

Work in progress Imperial Mars Class Battlecruiser

Imperial Light Cruisers

Bit dull but looks good. What your color process?, the metallics look a bit chunky. I like that bridge on the mars is that off a repulsive? I see that its wip but I also noticed that the torpedoe tubes are still open and the nova/ turrets are not attached, are you going to attemt to magnatize them or affix them in some other way so they may be removed so this can be fielded as a dictator? Or am I just reading too much into it  :P

Hey,

As usual i've used my phone camera, which doesn't seem to be too good. I varnished most of the models with matt varnish since a lot of the models are metal. I've been trying to paint them up quickly, so i've just drybrushed codex grey over the black for the main hull. I've used boltgun metal on the weapons batteries and turrets, I think i'll try using some brown ink on them to add a bit of depth since brown ink on the engine exhausts looked good.

Yes the bridge is from a Chaos Grand Cruiser. I acquired a bits box of leftovers from my friends chaos fleet, and it included the bridge. I think it makes the ship look more like a  battlecruiser. Since the pic i've added a pair of big turrets to the spine and tried to cut some antennas to look like a nova cannon.

I'm currently working on Battlegroup Omega's supply base, Rogue VI. Basically an asteroid thats been converted into a large space station. I'm going to use the rules for an imperial Blackstone Fortress to represent it in-game.

Sounds cool! Id love to see the station when its done. Are you cutting the metallics down any? I mix pretty much all of my paints with water to help it flow better and metallics are the worst as far as clumping goes. Do you have a better shot of the engines? Id like to see your effect with the brown ink. Thanks!

i've not watered the metallics down, mine seem to be quite thin anyway. I'll post pics of the base and defences, they're not that great though :P
Basically i just covered the engines in brown ink and blew it into the recesses. when it dried i thought it looked quite good.

Citadel, mine are all at least 3 years old though, so the formulation may have changed since then.
