Yet more Rogue Trader Rules!

Hey, i've been after a bit more variety in my RT fleet without having to pay through the roof points to take lances. I've therefore come up with my own fleet list tyo be used in friendly games. The chances i'll every play in an official tournament are pretty slim so it shouldn't be a problem in that sense.

I believe the reasoning behind the expensive cost for lances is due to the time away from imperial repair facilities, that the lances require for their upkeep, however surely it is conceivable that Rogue Trader would acquire some alternate technology to make up for this. for example the Tau acquiring their Ion Cannon technology from the Demiurg.

Obviously i'm open to comments and suggestions. I tried to make ships a bit more customisable.

FLEET COMMANDER

A Veteran Rogue Trader may be present for every 3 cruisers in the fleet, not including light cruisers.
A Rogue Trader Captain may be present in any rogue trader fleet, but must be assigned to a cruiser.


0-1 Veteran Rogue Trader (Ld 9 )   50pts
A veteran rogue trader gets one re-roll, which may be used for his vessel or a vessel in his squadron.

0-2 Rogue Trader Captain (Ld 8 )      35pts

CAPITAL SHIPS

Cruisers
Your fleet may include a cruiser for every light cruiser in the fleet.

0 - 1 Mothballed Grand Cruiser      220pts
   Prow Torpedoes         15pts
   Prow Weapons Battery      5pts
   Prow Ion Cannons         20pts
   Launch Bay Upgrade      15pts


Re-commissioned Cruiser         170pts
   Prow Torpedoes         15pts
   Prow Weapons Battery      5pts
   Prow Ion Cannons         20pts
   Launch Bay Upgrade      25pts


Carnage Class Cruiser*         180pts
Murder Class Cruiser*         170pts
*These ships may only be given upgrades from the Rogue Trader upgrade list. (Not from upgrades in their ship entry.)


Light Cruisers
Your fleet may include a Light cruiser for every 3 Auxiliary Ships in your fleet.

Endeavour Light Cruiser         110pts
Endurance Light Cruiser         110pts
Defiant Light Cruiser         120pts
Dauntless Light Cruiser         110pts
Heavy Transport            40pts

Upgrades
Each Capital Ship in the fleet (Besides Allies) may take a single upgrade from the list below for the points cost listed.

Advanced Shielding         20pts
Targeting Matrix            20pts
Long Range Sensors         20pts
Gravitic Thrusters         20pts
Ship Defence Grid         15pts
Advanced Engines         15pts

ESCORTS
Your fleet may include an escort squadron for each squadron of Auxiliary Ships.

Sword Class Frigate         35pts
Iconoclast Class Destroyer         25pts
Cobra Class Destroyer         30pts

AUXILIARY SHIPS
Your fleet may include any number of auxiliary ships, taken in squadrons of between 2 and 6 ships.

Armed Freighter            15pts
Cargo Transport            10pts
Q Ship               50pts
Escort Carrier            60pts
Rogue Trader Cargo Vessel      20pts


XENOS
Your fleet may include a Xeno squadron for each squadron of Auxiliary Ships.

Still in progress. Will most likely add Xeno escorts, demiurg ships, narcissar ships and stryxis caravans.



Up to 35% of your fleet may consist of allied vessels. These must follow all restrictions listed in their fleet list. These vessels are treated as a separate fleet and so cannot benefit from any fleet re-rolls etc.

You can make one with the recommissioned cruiser entry for 185pts  ;D

I've been toying with the idea of letting rt take dominator/devastation at 210/225 for every three standard cruiser choices, basically working like rt heavy cruisers. The points are based off of an additional 20 for the rarer and more complex weapons, the devastation also has the +15 for lances. The idea is to give them access to their own carriers and nova cannon yet limit the amount they can field even more so than the standard cruisers.

I'm trying to work out a way to take a transport only fleet, as I see a large force of transports going out on their own as very fluffy. Iirc the only real problem with this was that the rt commander has to be on a rt cruiser :/, should be changed to most expensive ship.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Or perhaps just a single frigate as protection. Common practice within Imperial space. Frigate has RT on board.


Ay yeah Pembo, recommissioned it is. I am just used to the Lunar being a common choice due the FFG Rogue Trader book. :)
