My Fleet

So, I'm having a lot of fun with Gothic at the moment. I'm in a campaign with 2 IN, 2 Chaos, and an Eldar, Tau and Necron as raiders. This is the fleet that I have managed to assemble:

Battlefleet Halcyon

Emperor
Apocalypse
Mars
2 x Lunar
2 x Dictator
Overlord
Dominator
Gothic
3 x Lance Dauntless
6 x Sword

Any glaring holes? I am thinking about converting the overlord into an armageddon but can't decide, what do you think? I'm not sure if sacrificing the 60cm batteries would hurt in a game against Eldar. Other than that I think it is a nice little collection, although I may add some vengence grand cruisers or a ramillies.

if your converting do you have your ships magnatized? If not look into it when you strip your weapons off. The armageddon with or without nova will serve you better in most games than a single overlord. In a campaign you can bring in more ships and choose your fleet from what you have available so I would keep the overlord as back up in case you play eldar and bring an armageddon in as reinforcements. I agree about the escorts a group of cobras or falchens can do some wonderful things especially picking off enemy torps :D and lots of swords is always a great option against eldar.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Gah, no it doesn't!  Your proclivity for escorts aside, 6 escorts is enough in battles of 1500 pts or less (the most common). Generally more than I would use in an IN or Chaos fleet. On top of that he has 3 Dauntless. They are very near as fast and manoeuvrable as escorts and have a similar weight in arms. This basically boils down to 540 pts of escort ships. This is more than enough. The only possible reason to get more would be for variety. Some torp Dauntless or Cobras for example. Or even some Falchions for torp-spoofing duties.

All true (the Dauntless thing-y). But:

Thus more escorts. Cobra's are a good asset in a campaign. Falchions are underrated and can make a good stand as well.

I am not saying +12 escorts but 2 extra squadrons of 3 escorts would not hurt the fleet when viewing it in a dynamic campaign approach.

In terms of cruisers the Vengeance would make a nice asset (if paired with Emperor in small campaign games it is a good long range platform in a abeam aspect).
