I have just been listening to the worlds end radio podcast on war of the ring.
It really got me thinking about how to expand BOTFA as this seems a more natural game for large scale battles in middle earth  ???
I know there are a couple of rulesets over on the yahoo group for this, but has anyone here done anymore army lists for the game or do you play using the existing ones?

In an ideal world this 28mm game would kick start the 10mm version as would the upcoming hobbit movie but I fear that this game is the least played specialist game out there.
I have owned the game since I started collecting warmaster and have yet to play it, but I would like to remedy that situation soon.

Very interesting topic!

We have made some home-made lists for Middle Earth setting. I have not playtested completley yet. So I post the titles here and if someone would like to see them I will post them wherever it will be adecuate (maybe in this topic?). Could be intersting because you guys who had experince in devolptment armies could improvement them or take some ideas to develop more defenitvly army list.

Well, I did not like too much the peter jackson films...  ::) oooops I said it. My sources are Beasteary of Tolkien (the illustrated book), the Tolkien books and old rpg books from MERP.

I have written:
2 age elf generic armylist (High elfs mood)
3 age elf generic armylist (woodelfs moo)
Dwarf generic armylist
Goblin generic armylist
Orc generic armylist
Human generic armylist

Regional specific list:
Arthedain armylist
Sorcerer-King  of Angmar armylist
Gondor armylist
Warlord empire armylist (located in Cardolan if I remember right just now)
Isengard armylist
Rohan armylist

Looks interesting.
I was thinking of basing the armies on the ones mentioned in the new war of the ring game.

Thanks Azrael,

I think you would like to develop The Lord of The Ring Forces, Am I right?

Which are:
Gondor and Arnor
The kingdom of Rohan
The Elven Kingdoms
The Dwarfs Holds
The Forgotten Kingdoms
Mordor
The Fortress of Isengard
The Misty Mountains
The Fallen Realms
Angmar

There was considerable work already done on the WM-middle earth group @ Yahoo. And some of that stuff is definitly more then just OK. I suggest you look at what is there. But in general feel free to go ahead and use this forum for further development. From my discussions with Rick on doing the BoFA stuff (and the original intent behind the subtitle of BoFA (Great Battles of Middleearth) I would suggest to take a regional/temporal approach (kinda like in the old I.C.E. ME stuff). In that light BoFA could be seen as a Northern Mirkwood source book for the 3th ?? age. Creating protagonist lists allows for "fluff" based scenarios, whilst on the other hand allows you to use elements from lists to "evolve" into units on later lists etc.
