[BFG] The Fleets of Enceladus
« on: August 10, 2018, 09:59:47 PM »
Hi, I'm still quite new here, but have been a BFG fan since it was released. Being in Sydney, Australia, the range we initially had access to was disappointingly limited at the time. I figured it was well past time now to showcase some of the fleets I have assembled over the years, as well as a few of the custom-builds I have dabbled with. I'll hopefully add a great deal more to the topic as time goes on - I can't say I'm ready to see BFG off into the good night just yet!

First off, here is an entirely custom-built Tyranid fleet that I am quite pleased with. There are 3 Hiveship models, 5 cruisers of different types, 12 Vanguards (all with sweeper tentacles) 12 assorted Kraken and finally 12 drones. The models were designed using an assortment of sea shells as templates, and molded in resin so I could mass produce them and allow for a great deal of customisation, while keeping the overall look similar.

Next up; a Space Marine Dominion Fleet.

The Fleets of Enceladus - Space Marine Dominion Fleet

Here is the Space Marine fleet I have put together, with two entirely custom-built Battlebarges. They were assembled using a mix of parts from Imperial and Chaos battleships, with a few minor differences between them (largely so I could tell them apart during a battle!). The Strike Cruisers and Rapid Strike Escorts are all standard examples.

While I have always been pleased with the aesthetics of this fleet, they have always been a bit of a letdown in terms of gameplay. Though, I have to admit, I have never succumbed to the temptation to legally field a Battlebarge in a 500 point skirmish... yet.

Next up, something completely different - Battlefleet Gothic dioramas!

The Fleets of Enceladus - Dioramas
« Reply #2 on: August 10, 2018, 10:28:24 PM »
These dioramas are fairly new works, and each one is an attempt to capture a particular moment in time, in a way that a model on its own simply cannot. The first diorama captures a turning point in an old campaign, where the Imperial side broke through Chaos lines and proceeded to enact Exterminatus on a planet. In the diorama, a Victory-Class Battleship and a Lunar-Class cruiser force their way past a Chaos Hecate-Class Heavy Cruiser, turning it into a flaming hulk along the way (it didn't explode until after the Imperial vessels had safely moved out of reach!)

The second diorama is pretty self-explanatory - it is the Planet Killer doing what it does best!
(And yes, that is an LED built into the explosion).

There will be plenty more to come; custom-built Grand Cruisers, Imperial Navy and Chaos fleets, including one Chaos fleet that virtually maxes out the Capital Ship slots.

Next up, however, will be an entire Necron Harvest Fleet. Until then, thanks for viewing.

Everything here is fun and well made.

The Tyranid small ships are a little bitt relying on shells too much for me. But well, when you see what you made for the big ones, it's forgottable.

I like your work with the lazer too.

As for chaos fleet, i found the large flat prey is nice, and the thin long one for smaller ships is excellent. Really gives an impression of bird of prey.

The Fleets of Enceladus - Necron Harvest Fleet
« Reply #5 on: August 17, 2018, 10:01:53 PM »
Hello again,

As promised, here is the Necron fleet. The fleet consists of a single Cairn-Class Tombship, six Scythe Harvesters, three Shroud light cruisers, as well as a dozen each of the Jackal and Dirge escorts. This represents the entire fleet list that was originally published in the BFG 2002 Annual, and is certainly an imposing sight on the tabletop!

Next up, well, I haven't decided yet. I might post a Battlefleet Bakka Imperial fleet, with custom-designed Enforcer light cruisers (from the original 2002 Annual list) or the massive Chaos fleet I've already hinted at. Time will tell...

Well, it's certainly been a while, but I haven't forgotten to come back here for an update.

This time, I've added a few custom-built ship designs for Chaos Grand Cruisers made from an assortment of spare pieces. The idea was to try to design something that bridged the gap between the Chaos and Imperial ship designs of BFG.

Finally, I have included a custom-built battleship design, which I had dubbed the Defiance-class. It was also an entry into the ill-fated Gothicomp 2017.

More to come, and hopefully I'm a bit quicker on the next update!
