The future of Battlegroup Helios
« on: June 29, 2017, 11:38:03 PM »
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Some of you might have already read about this on Facebook or the Tactical Command forums, but here we go:

Quote
News.

The small but beautiful range of gothic starships from the battlegroup helios range formerly available from our friends down south have been purchased by vanguard miniatures and will be in store very soon. The models will remain under the battlegroup helios label and all the other ships from vanguard will port over to this label as well and I hope to continue to expand both the hellian fleet and the other faction fleets over time.

I must thank Aaron and Zac for the opportunity to own these wonderful ships appreciated guys, and i'd like to wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

Statement from Aaron and Zac from Battlegroup Helios:
Quote
Hey folks,
As you've probably noticed it's been quiet around here lately. Both Zac and I have seen our lives get busier over the last year and it's left us with dramatically less time to devote to BGH. The result is the development of the Terrans have stalled and restocking has been intermittent. That's not really fair to all of you who've supported us and so we've decided that it was time for us to pass the BGH torch. For the past month we've been working with John at Vanguard and starting today, Battlegroup Helios will become part of the Vanguard Miniatures family. We trust you'll give him the same support you've give us. Check them out at http://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/
Thanks and see you among the stars!
Aaron and Zac

Are they still going to be cast in resin or will they now be in metal? (please say metal!)

Does this also mean we will not being seeing any more in the range? I was really looking forward to a Battleship :/

John (from VGM) mentioned that the cruisers will remain in resin. The escorts' fate is still unsure.

As for new ships, like the battleship and the Terrans, they might be done in the future. Sadly enough i cant give you a timetable for those yet.

Sad news for the Battlegroup Helios team needing to pass on something they are clearly passionate about: but excellent that their dream can continue to live! And hopefully their real-life exploits will now be a bit more manageable!

I was also looking forwards to a battleship: although I see the reasoning behind wanting to optimise resources and avoid the bigger risk of a bigger ship, the larger ships are quite central to games like BFG. It seems few Gothic-esque ranges span the whole gamut from destroyers to battleships.

Not saying the battleship will never happen, there have been some sketches of it, so it might appear in the future. I just can't give you a timetable for those yet, so I've got no clue when they'll be done / printed / released.

A little update regarding the Battlegroup Helios ships:

Just received these images from the caster ship production is in full swing but high summer temperatures are causing delays. None the less an initial batch is expected to ship to me late this week.
