[WM] Peasant Alternatives?
« on: August 25, 2015, 12:36:11 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, and rabidly rediscovering warmaster!

I'm working on a Vampire Counts army, but having trouble finding zombies or other special units, which has inspired me to proxy / use alternative units and theme the army more towards the Vampire aspect. I'll be using converted knights as Blood Knights, Converted elves as Grave Guard.

I thought it might be fun to use an angry mob / peasants / farmers unit in place of zombies. The anti-vampire townfolk, hypnotized to follow the vampire lord around. Skin painted pale, and most weapons cut and converted into flaming torches. Women, children, old men etc.

I'm not entirely sure what figures would fit this look however. Pendraken has peasants and witches that could work, but they are slightly larger than GW (same with Kallistra), so I wonder if there is a better option. I've looked through historical lines too but nothing is super obvious at this point.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome!

It does seem that "townfolk" is missing from 10mm in general, and could be worth it for several games, scenarios, armies in the hobby.

I would love them to look more victorian somehow

Thanks!

Tridente Bologna used to have some good peasants but it looks like their website has been down for a while. =-<

I've been trying to find any pictures of their line (heard lots of good things about them)

Would there be any other sites that stocked them, or was it pretty much their own store?

I'd love for the figures to be as close to WM size as possible, and seems the others are too tall or wide at the moment.

There don't seem to be any civilians in 10mm medieval/fantasy

Go with Pendraken, the size difference isn't really all that noticable.

Codes ELM8, ELM14 and ELM37 if you want to add some monks into the mix.

Were those top ones Kallistra? and so they might be the same as Pendraken but on a strip and slightly bigger?

I like the pilgrims for this purpose, since they don't have shields and have some more interesting clothes
but those top peasants are pretty good peasants.
