My Plastic Vengence Class Grand Cruiser
« on: December 31, 2014, 02:53:44 PM »
Hi All,

Over the holidays, I hacked apart an imp and chaos plastic cruiser to produce a plastic 'Vengence Class Grand Cruiser'.

I expected a mess but it came out pretty tidy looking, what do you think?. All I used was some green stuff and a very sharp Stanley-type knife.

In case you can't tell that's the rear skirt from the chaos cruiser on an imperial cruiser body with a chaos cruiser nose and lance batteries. As in the picture of the Vengence class in the rule book, I put an imperial bridge on 'amidships'. The chaos bridge is mainly there to cover the step down at the back but blends in quite nicely.

Overall I much prefer it to the metal-boat model that I once had from GW. It also falls over and breaks less often.

Sorry about the picture, my phone sucks and the family 'kids room' isn't the best backdrop!

Try to get a better picture of it! ;)

However, besides that I've got a few other pointers:

1): AMAZING MODEL!!! In my humble opinion this plastic version looks better than the original metal model! :D Very curious to see how you're gonna paint it up.

2): Got some other views of it as well? Kinda curious how it looks from the top view.

3): What will be its loyalties? Imperial or Traitor? What about its colours?

4): AWESOME POSTERS!!!

Hi Mailika,

Thanks! such high praise. I've gotten a less terrible camera out an taken a few more pics.

It's going to be included in my imperial fleet. I was thinking of 'The Void Stalker' or maybe 'The Wandering Gallows' for names. I'll probably make another similar one for my nurgle armada if it looks good on the table.

Pic with an imp cruiser to show the colour scheme, I'm not sure which bits to paint red yet...any thoughts would be very welcome!

And one from above:

One more showing a bad undercoat but more details.

It's going to need a bit more sanding and some dorsal lances but mostly there. I'll post a pic of it painted if anyone is interested.

Very cool, especially given the prices I've seen recently on Ebay for metal Vengeance class cruisers. Might have to give it try!

Thanks chaps,

Just to report back I'm currently painting her up in prep for a big 2000pt game with my no-good Chaos worshipping brother: may his periapsis be forever in the lithobraking zone.

Should have it done this weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the slow progress, I've been dealing with my company being scuppered (much like my emperor class in EVERY.SINGLE.GAME).

Anyway I've been painting the ship, only part done and quite a bit of work to go but you get the general idea:

Finally finished painting her, for anyone still interested!

I've gone with the basic color scheme of my Imperial fleet with some added gaudy bling to emphasize the unique nature of the beast. So some pictures, any thoughts?
