Vernable barge question (Space marine 2010 list)

For the Barge, can you take a ship that's unique? Like for instance, the Jovian and the blessing? I know the fluff doesn't work if you do, but I'm wondering if the rules allow it.

As per rules you can. :)

From the 2010 compendium:
Quote
Choosing a Battle Barge

In addition to their fleet list, any Space Marine fleet may include a single Venerable battle barge
(meaning only one!), which may be any Imperial or Chaos battleship, grand cruiser, battlecruiser or
heavy cruiser (painted appropriately of course!).
This replaces one of the battle barges allowed in the fleet. The normal cost must be paid for the ship, plus
an additional +35 points for the cost of the Space Marine crew. This vessel represents an ancient,
revered icon or a vessel granted with special dispensation. It is worth 100% victory points if
crippled or 150% victory points if destroyed.

Interesting, I think trying to take the chaos unique ones wouldn't work though. Unless you'd be paying points for abilities you don't use.

I'm not going to do it, but that's interesting that you can.
