And he won another Void Stalker as prize for Best Sportsman!

Here are my three initial thoughts for using Chaos next year (all of which use the 13th Black Crusade list):

[215] Devastation - Chaos Lord
[190] Devastation
[205] Carnage - Chaos Lord
[180] Carnage

Idea 2 (1500)
[400] Desolator - Warmaster
[200] Hades
[215] Devastation - Chaos Lord
[190] Devastation
[205] Carnage - Chaos Lord
[180] Carnage
[110] Dauntless - torpedoes

Idea 3 (1400)
[300] Hades - Warmaster
[200] Hades
[215] Devastation - Chaos Lord
[190] Devastation
[205] Carnage - Chaos Lord
[180] Carnage
[110] Dauntless

All those snapped stems. Pity. Good luck on fixing them.

How did the Tau fleet work in your opinion?

Well to be honest , all I hear is that the old fleet is better all around. That's not so. The Old fleet is great at spamming alot of Ordnance and mantas if selected properly. The Protector fleet  has some complements of both ordnance and mantas but not nearly enough to make use of the Tau Torp side. On the plus side all cruiser and cap ships have 6+ Armour on the front. They also have increased shields. and slightly higher amount of gun batteries. On average the Custodian is a hefty points sink but it is very deadly and can take alot of hits. with 3 shields. The only downside is that the high cost of the ships means less cap ships  and escorts. The only way I was able to fit another cruiser was to add a kroot war sphere( and technically it's not a cruiser). And honestly had alot of fun with that thing.  their is no better fleet with them the fleet just plays different.

"OLD FLEET'= More torp and manta spam, basically reload everything and spam

"NEW FLEET"=Higher armour, better gun batteries, thisrequires you to be a little closer to the enemy then lock on and unload your ordanance

Game wise, I usually do well. For this tournament HAD 1 Draw, 1 Win, 1 loss, draw was do to time constraints. I think if we both had 1 more turn things would have turned out for the Tau fleet.

1. IMPERIAL(Charles Everett) Draw
2. ELDAR (James Nicholson) Won
3. TYRANID (Dan Gleason) Lost

Also on an interesting note I think my idea for the kroot war sphere didn't go how I imagined it. the max I could do to take off the station was 3 hts every turn it would at least take 3 turns. I guess I misread the boarding action rules.  on the plus I liked the way it worked well with the gun batteries it has. can anyone clear up boarding action for me on that?

Neat.
Did the 90* turns on the Protector prove worthy, in relation to its gunnery based weaponry, plus the front missiles?

Yes it was a definite help. against the eldar it proved very useful as my opponent had to think twice about getting to my back, as I would still be able to hit him with most ranged weaps without taking special orders for turning

As an afteraction from the TO.  It was good to run you guys again.  I think with the resurgence in the Chicagoland area of BFG and the new indy store opening up in Batavia in about a month,  I think I'll be able to keep myself going on running it for at least another year.  I'll be able to get more scenario testing in.  We saw how that turned out for scenario 2.  I apologize for how funky it turned out,  as it was I think that how it was scored got screwed up in translation when I sent it off to the layout guy but I decided to roll with the change.  I think my original plan was to have the token score be used in the standard BFG Battle point distribution so things would have probably been a bit more organized but still in favor of the fast and fragile fleets.

We already have plans beginning to start for revamping the terrain some more, like upgrading the asteroids again and maybe replacing some of the planets with the coresec engineering planets with bases under them to delineate what their exact dimensions for blocking los and torpedo fire are.

Thanks for all the coverage, everyone!

It's great to see BFG thriving in the controlled environment of Adepticon and the pictures help for someone on a different continent  ;).  I also started a topic to discuss the fleet compositions and experiences to see if we can discern some more about the greater trends in the BFG community. :)
