Fighters Escorting a Capital Ship
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:46:34 AM »
I have a brief question regarding fighters escorting a capital ship.

It says on page 29 of the Basic Rules book that "fighters in base contact with friendly ships may move with them to screen against enemy ordinance..." and goes on to describe how that works. One thing I don't understand - are the fighters treated as being all around the ship they are screening, or do they only protect the ship from ordinance that approaches from the direction indicated by the placement of the fighter token?

Either way, I have learned in a recent game that having my Emperor unleash a cloud of fighters to swarm about and protect from ordinance might be a good thing to do early on, especially since I could do it in the opening turns of a battle, then unleash bombers and assault boats later on, when the enemy is closer and some fighters have been removed.

Cap covers the entire base.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.
