Shooting phase question
«

When working out shooting, do I have to shoot 1 ship at a time or can I fire weapons batteries on all ships first and then fire lances?

Nope.
You fire per ship / per squadron.
Thus if you have two Lunars (A & B) non squadroned you first fire batteries-lances from Lunar A, then batteries-lances from Lunar B.
f squadroned you may add batteries of A & B, followed by lances from A & B.

So no using the Weapon Batteries to knock down the shields and then Lances to exploit the lower 'to hit' value on a fleet scale. Seems fair enough.

Yes, you can. Just squadron everything.
