Bombers and Turrets Idea
« on: February 23, 2011, 02:55:00 AM »
I know turrets and bombers have been debated almost to death, but here is my idea anyway.

If twice as many bombers as turrets each surviving bomber does 4 attacks
If there are more bombers than turrets each surviving bomber does 3 attacks
If there are more or equal turrets than bombers then each surviving bomber does 2 attacks
If twice as many turrets as bombers then each surviving bomber does 1 attack

And possibly get rid of fighter turret suppression

Wot? So a 8 bomber wave vs a cruiser does 4attacks per bomber? If 2 turrets shot down 1 bomber 7 are left. These 7 then do 28 attacks.

I cannot agree with this idea.

What about if it was

If twice as many bombers as turrets each surviving bomber does 4 attacks
If there are more bombers than turrets each surviving bomber does 3 attacks
If there are more or equal turrets than bombers then each surviving bomber does 2 attacks
If twice as many turrets as bombers then each surviving bomber does 1 attack

7 bombers getting through the turrets in your example would cause 21 attacks to be made, rolling against armour as normal.

I should have posted earlier that it is calculated per wave.

Bombers will almost always outnumber turrets, therefore an average of 3 attacks per bomber. The current average against a T2 target is 1.67, so even your modified system would be nearly twice as powerful as at present.

I suggested a similar system to this a while ago, but the numbers were 1 attack if less than turrets, 2 attacks if more than, with fighters counting double for the purposes of determining outnumbering.
