Looking forward to seeing more Wood Elves!

Myself, I'm at a cross roads, here.  Probably going to do more Dark Elves again - but might veer towards something shiny if I get inspired!

Today it rains the whole day so I could paint the persians, a trojan infantry and advance in trojan chariots.

If I end this chariot unit and some characters, then... I will finish my Homeric/greek army so I am quite excited.

It is true that the quality of the paint is not my best work, but at least... the "painting production" is not stopped. :)

I'll give it a try again. Something small to not get water over my head. One unit of Empire/DoW crossbowmen should be manageable.

[entry] Ogres & Minotaurs.  Missed the deadline for January.  For February I pledge some Orcs and a couple of Shaggoths.

Good use of the Copplestone figs!  What rules are you planning on using for them?

I, too, have had Shadow Warriors for HE and Shades for DE on the brain...

I've been checking out the other threads about Warmaster, but not seen this painting thread! Otherwise I would have joined earlier.

My focus is creating a wood elf army - I can see there are some others also painting wood elves so it will be interesting to see alternatives out there as there is not much to refer to (in 10mm).
Not sure if this counts but started these Wild riders back in Dec, and (with long breaks) only finished them this week.
What counts as a Feb entry?... Finish in Feb or... start and end within Feb?
I'll post them up either way - its all fun at the end of the day.
Next on my table are 6 units of Glade Guard - I'm pretty sure these won't get finished this month.

Blimey, ClawlessDragon, what a way to make an entrance!

You should introduce yourself properly in a general thread and say what your interests are, generally.

There I was, thinking I had avoided the deadly danger of a Wood Elf force and now I feel I am drawn back to them...

Welcome Clawlessdragon. The  goal of the "Tale thing" is to motivate, to share, and to comment the progression.

The format is start in feb and finish in feb... but real the point is making people to participate and enjoy 10mm, so we are not really strict.

I will pick you up two units of wild riders. It is up to you to tell us your experience with glade guard and show pictures of the advance.

And who knows... maybe you get the motiviation to finish those 6 units of glade guards in february  ;)

Thanks for the add, hopefully this thread will inspire me to paint more, watch TV less.
I've been in and out the hobby for many years now (80s warhammer figs are my fav).  Got into warmaster when it came out, and it remains my favourite system, although I only have a Orc and gob army. After a 15 year break, (kids older), last year I joined a local gaming group, dusted off the boxes in the attic, and started gaming again. A couple of the guys are also warmaster players so ... warmaster is back on the cards and here I am. I post stuff up on the warmaster facebook page, but not everyone has facebook.

I like the copplestone archers, I did not get any myself as I read they were on the large side, so would look out of place against other figs. It will be interesting to see your point of view.. I'll post pics of my archers when I get home.

thanks for the links, I especially like the comparison shots.
I went for Pendraken archers (look very much like the copplestone ones) and eagle riders (not as nice as the Eureka ones but more affordable).
Archers in progress.

I used the Epic Eldar Avatar 1st version model as the statue of Khaine - the normal Hag Queen and bodyguard models I had copies of from the DE commnad blister.  I used a blood angel upgrade sprue grail piece for the cauldron and put that atop the pile of skulls you get in the Tomb Kings command blister.  Then I had a spare helmetless High Elf artillery crewman who is meant to be preparing or winding the bolt thrower but looks like he's holding out his hands in supplication / horror.  I've put him at the "front" of the model and will use Blood for the Blood God to paint an overflow of blood pouring over the skulls to his feet as though he's a prisoner being broken by the hag queen for her own amusement.

wow Stormwind, these Couldron looks scary!

Pendraken archers looks great for wood archer. It is true also that the sculpt has improved a lot with the long bow rather than the short like bow that has the old sculpt.

Here my work of February so far:

[ENTRY jchaos]

First a unit of Persian army. Looking thorugh Persian army ospray I saw an ethipean sailor picture (they one of the left side). I like the concept and I make a subjected infantry unit with the concept of Ethiopean marines. I used Newline Persian subject infantry figures mixed with Pendraken arab tribal infantry miniatures.

Then I painted some trojan, a unit of warriors and a unit of chariots

At last some heros to make the plenty heros of Homeric legends

I love that you share your inspirations!

You must have a great selection of history books.

For me painting an army imply read about the period, and that is part of whole experience of the hobby.

[ENTRY] Stormwind

Almost finished my first Cold One riders unit.  Turned out to be way more time consuming than I thought as I decided to go for a multiple layer blue on the cold ones.

Decided to do my usual "test strip" of Dark Riders as a break - and found it much, much easier!  Might switch to them and try to knock them out a bit quicker.

WE bits: Unit of wild riders converted from Pendraken Centaur army pack's 4 poses with added leather body armour on many plus a few flags horns etc, spell casting homunculus as my spell weaver, and general from copplestone character pack.

Fantastic! I think I already asked you this a while back but I can't find it - How did you add such small / fine horns?

Thanks. Procreate(grey stuff) or green stuff or mix of both- in that order- coupled with moderate amount of swearing during a few attempts. They're not exactly what I wanted but they're not so far off that I'd bin them. Got 2 more WR units to apply what I've learnt so far so I expect improvement. The whole thing is an exercise in patience.

Alas I have been tardy with mine! Amending previous post to be my entry for this month just passed.

This is the problem with February, never as long as it needs to be. =P

Being new to this group, I gave it a shot and it certainly focused me to do more than I normally would, but maybe painting 90 archers was a bit much. Almost there only the tops to do on 50 more and basing. Work so far....
