Hello chaps. My first post here (hopefully there will be a fair few more to come).
After finding a treasure trove of Gothic models in a case at the bottom of a pile o' cases I have got the Gothic bug. So, here I am! Although you may see some Inquisitor 54mm shenanigans here as well from time to time.
Anyway, here is my Imperial fleet. Although I have 2 more Battleships. (1 Emperor and 1 yet to be built - Ideas?) and two cruisers still on sprues.

I also saw an absolutely fantastic Battleship conversion (I think the creator was Tyberius?) and had to make my own :D So here's my attempt. There are many like it but this one is mine! The White Resin is my casts, the grey is from China.

I'm also working on a quick gaming fleet (I hate rushing things I care about). With the exception of the Gothic cruiser all of the below ships are resin recasts - done by me. The swords need their prows finishing and their bases spraying.

I also knocked up a quick 'counts as' Exorcist grand cruiser. I quite like it so might make a few more for the BIG fleet. I'm thinking about covering the torpedo tubes with antenna........ Dunno, thoughts?

The dreadnought is going to be a great adversary to mine :P, your fleets are nice, but I don't particularly like the grand cruiser, I don't know why, it is weird.

the rules do allow the exorcist to have torpedoes, maybe leave as is or even magnetise the antennae into the torpedo holes for variation. depending on original v bfg:r rules? i magnetised the masts on some battlecruisers, it was only a little bit fiddly? :)

Cheers guys, sorry no update. I'm waiting on a new ebay Delivery to finish(ish) my Marine and IN fleets. Once that's done I'll get cracking!! I am half way through biulding my Marine Flagship though. Basically a Black Templar version of the Ultima class Battle Barge.
As yet, I have no name for the Dreadnought. Any ideas? (sensible Ideas ::))

My Marine fleet currently stands at
1x Ultima Battle Barge
2x Battle Barges
6x Strike Cruisers
I just need to pick up some Escorts from somewhere!

I didn't want to be mean with the grand cruiser ;), it is just my opinion, the most important one on this matters is yours as it is your ship ;D
And yes I mean the deadnot ::) IT WILL KRUZH YOUR LITTE HUMIE SHIP!! :P :P

Sorry about the late update. I've had no chance to do any hobby recently due to my Kitchen being redone annnnnnnnnd then my laptop died so I haven't been able to get on here anyway.

Right. My 1500pt Gaming fleet is done!! Everything apart from the three cruisers are resin recasts. The three cruisers were salvage jobs as they have had 3 or 4 paint jobs over the years so even with stripping they didn't come out great. Regardless, I think they look ok!

Well. A break from the norm. I say norm but Gothic is actually a distraction from my main distraction which is Inquisitor 54mm!! The background is still pending/rough on these chaps. There's not much conversion work. The magus is just a weapon swap and the mutant is just Fabian with some shoulder pads.

I'm planning on doing a Huge mutant pit fighter cyborg as the Magisters Body Guard. The mutant above is going to be the leader of a mutant rebellion. I may update you all with some more of my =][= 54mm stuff if you're interested. :D

Well, I had a thought and then that thought turned into a full blown "I NEED TO SCRATCH BUILD NOW!" I fancied having some Endeavour class cruisers in my list. However due to A] not having any and B] wanting my fleet to look like it's made up of left overs and mothballed ships I decided to make this wee chap!
The plan is to cast him up and have 4 of them. 2 Endeavours and 2 Endurances. Although I really like the launch bays on it so that may change!

As you can see it's a bit shorter than a duantless but is twice as wide.

The background to this chap is that its an old Ore transporter that was converted into warship due to requirements and having loads left lying around after the mining industry went bust. Over the years it, and it's sister ships, have been modified and improved on and now form the majority of the system defence fleet of my forgotten backwater sector fleet.

Well. I managed to cast 6 up last night. Only 4 came out usable though. The other two will probably end up as hulks. As you can see, there's still a few little bubbles that needed fixing. Nothing massive though.

Well. They didn't take long! The four Endeavours/Endurance are done! Although looking at them now I think they need some squadron markings on the prows. Do you think I should add purple & Gold to the back of the ships?

Nice big stuff and small stuff :) how do you go about resincasting? Do you vacuum the resin or pressurize or stuff like that?

As for casting. I use neither actually. Just some silicon and resin from TOMPS. As a rough guide this is a simple tutorial I did over on the 'clave. http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2603.0 It's pretty basic but it gets the point across.
I use these for my casting:

One thing I'd change for casting is the use of that spray mould release. It's pants. Just use Vaseline - but be careful not to get any on the original.

It is a case of trial and error to be honest. My first attempts were pretty piss poor but each failed cast is just a learning curve. Each failure shows you where an air bubble can get caught so you can but a vent in or something to release the trapped air.
Also putting a few drops of resin into each mould half and poking it into all the details helps no end. Once I've done that I'll half fill one side of the mould with resin and then close it up and seal it. Then slowly pour in the rest of the resin.
Something that I don't show in that tutorial is that I have some bits of sturdy plastic around the mould. Otherwise the elastic bands can warp the mould a little.

I have a friend who does mould making like that and yes, dabbing it into the details first can make all the difference.

The pictures didn't come out great for some reason. The yellow on the Power cable looks pretty flat but hey-hum!

Cheers mate :) I haven't really ever done fluid canisters before. I was going to just do it Red but decided to be brave for a change!
Well, because I can't decide on which ship I want my flagship to be I went ahead and magnetised it. Everything. Even the prow so I can switch between torpedoes and Sensors. although this doesn't really help me decide on what I actually want it at least stops me from having to break things off every time I change my mind!

So! This lady is going to be my new Inquisitor. Her cover is an Imperial Bounty Hunter/Assassin for Hire. This is my take on the artwork... Kinda finished but Kinda not. Back to Gothic for the moment as I realised the deadline for GothicComp was almost up! Here's some 'almost done' pics of the Dreadnought. Not much needs finishing, just the metal on the engines and a name plate on the base. What are your thoughts about doing gold around the weapon ports for the Weapon Batteries?

Really cool looking ships here, your skills are most impressive. I think gold trim around your dreadnought's gun ports would still be a nice idea in the long run - it's a real showpiece in itself so some extra bling would help it pop even more!
Nice take on grand cruisers by the way. I have managed to scrounge 2 Repulsives (and scratch built an Exorcist) but I long for access to just a couple more without breaking the bank! ::)
I'm impressed with your recasting skills. A good way to fill gaps in fleets without going insane on Bay of E. And nicely executed too. My own fleet is a similar rag tag idea and your pictures make me want to get back to them!

No idea to be honest with you. It started off as a mix of Tanned flesh, Dwarf Flesh and Bestial Brown. Then highlighted up with Dwarf flesh, then elf and then Rotting flesh (yes, really) with blending in between....... So, god knows how many layers. Maybe 10 - 15?
The stubble was a mix of grey and the flesh tones watered down and washed over the skin a few times. I then highlighted it up a few times with grey mixed with Dwarf/elf flesh,
All in all the face took me about 2 hours. Stopping now and then when my 'almost 1 year old' decides he wants to attack me. ::)
Thanks for the kiind words anyway. I'll hopefully get some more work done to him this weekend.

I've also received a 1:32 truck. It appeared too small at first so I went ahead and bought (and built) a 1:24 pick up. The 1:24 is far too big to be honest so it looks like I'm going to 40k 'up' the 1:32 truck. Some additional plating, 40k lights and mesh instead of windows should blend it in enough.

If I haven't said it before already, I say now; this is some fantastic stuff here. I know that 54mm gives the opportunity for much more detail that 28mm but geez your work on these scenery pieces is out of this world.

Thanks chaps! Glad you like the pics (Helps motivation :D). 54mm certainly gives more possibilities for conversions that's for sure. It's easier but at the same time harder. Easier because parts are bigger but harder because things are more noticeable!!
Some 'almost done' pics of Banus. Just some finishing touches like finishing some freehand work and maybe adding some heraldry to his right knee pad (scared of ruining that yellow though :S). I also have some censer balls and the like to add to his belt. Still deciding about them though.

Yep, the treatment of the yellow is really nicely done. Maybe lacking some orange touch on the left shoulder pad to fitt the rest of the body.

The armour damage? You mean the silver chips? Not as many as you'd think. The first stage was to do a base of the second last highlight of main colour, in this case the yellow. Then I painted the 'chip' with dark brown before adding a dark silver for the chipped metal. Lastly I highlighted it with a bright silver on the edges/centre of the scratch.
Did that make sense? :o

It does - I was trying it for the first time on some of the new Blood Bowl 2016 figures which is why I asked - I had tried doing a dark grey then dull metal as a simple edge chip.

Ok chaps, no pics so far. I'm just brain storming. If you were a black legionary on some nefarious mission. What weapons would you have? I kinda like the idea of two swords. But maybe two pistols (although I was saving the Gunfighter for an Aplha Legionary). Or maybe just a Bolter, Pistol and Chainsword? Oh, and what Mark of armour?
I don't want something that will take ages to build (like a power maul). So, Ideas?

Love the painted marine, the face is amazing and yellow is always a bit tricky to get right. It's this kind of irresponsible display that makes me reach towards all my neglected 28mm sprues.... you monster!

Thanks! He's 54mm. There's a few 28mm scaled things on there, such as the skull. The Frag grenades are Space Marine Melta Bombs and the belt buckle skull is a 28mm skull. The vent on his chest is nicked from a Marine backpack as are the little vents on his chainswords.

LOL, The model came from my Garage ;) Hacking up metal models at this scale is some serious work. Resin is just easier to work with. I have 6 metal versions (4 unbuilt) so it's not like I don't have them kicking around either :P But thank you anyway!!

I ofr one can only suggest the colourscheme of my 28mm classic cadians. as I love it!
flectarn sleeves and tack vests, codex grey trou and dark angles green armour (for pads and helmet). for the flectarn I tend to base with catachan green. with splodges (well peadot effect) of bestial brown, camo green, karlock green and chaos black. with devlan mud over all this. it looks just like flectarn when these colours are used...
or the obvious choice for you would be an urban camo. I'd suggest the shadowgrey, skullwhite, chaos black tigerstripe scheme, with snakebite leather pouches as of the cover to codex cityfight...

Yes mate. All official. All original metal :) It's also a very heavy case! There's 10 Cruisers, 6 Battlecruisers and 4 light cruisers to come yet. Plus 3 Battle Barges, 6 strike cruisers and 5 Novas for my Marine fleet. All, in all, 10,000pts I need to get done.
That's just the Imperial fleet. I have 2500pts of Chaos that are bare plastic sitting in that case as well. I'm going to be a busy chappy!!

Ok, after 8hrs of Inquisitor 54mm games yesterday I'm taking a well earned break from big toy soldiers and concentrating on tiny toy soldiers instead.
I never liked the GW Grand cruisers and I couldn't find anything that really suited my Bakka fleet theme of old Cargo ships turned Warships. So I've started possibly my most complicated Plasticard project yet........ The RUBRUM NANUM. A Huge Ore Transporter who's massive holds have been converted into flight bays to turn it into an Annihilator class Grand Cruiser :D
Still WIP. The Dorsal detail is done, as is the majority of the Bridge section. I still need to do the engines and work out what I want to do with the Port/Starboard engine rooms. Think I should leave it boxy or add the Fins/Wings that normal Navy Cruisers have?

I dig this, will you be casting this? Also this could make a really good dreadnaught proxy. The lore on the dreadnaught I believe is that they are pre void shield technology. They where huge cruisers with massive slabs of armor many times thicker then Standard cruisers. The reason they fell out of service is it's easier to let a shield take damage rather then repair and refit bent and shredded armor. I'm very interested to see where this goes. Also if you need any casting tips or advice, perhaps help with casting I am interested.

I was thinking about casting it up as I wanted to do a couple for use as objectives and the like. However I'd get it professionally done as it's a bit too detailed for me to reliably get all the detail in there as I don't have a vacuum chamber. I've tried Gothic stuff before and despite my best efforts they still have little bubbles in the corners of details - which is ok for gaming stuff or scenery but not to sell to other people.
I am going to go for a more rounded prow (it's only supposed to be armour 5) but I could make the prow separate and make more of an armoured one later? As for the weapons, all GW Imperial weapons fit in there but the Weapon Batteries sit a bit further back. I will make some fuel pods though. :)
Dreadnoughts are Pre shield technology. From original fluff I think they are literally gigantic battering rams. Battleship+ scale versions of brute ram ships :o This chap is going to be a bit chunky and fat. Rather than the long and elegant Dreadnoughts but what you do with the model is up to you though ;)

Well, it doesn't look like I've done much but it's taken me a couple of hours work to do the engine blocks. There's still an awful lot of detail to add but it's getting there.
I've spoken to the chap who casts my stuff up for me and he says to leave the prow seperate. So there you go, What prows do you want? Rounded, like the other transports? Or more like the other Imperial Navy ships?
I've also gone and made a fuel pod.I'll get my caster to make 8 up for each ship! (I now want 3 myself hehe)

By print I assume you mean how long it takes the caster to make the mould and then casts up. I usually have to wait two weeks for him to send stuff back to me. Considering he gives me back the masters in perfect condition I'm happy with that.
Or do you mean 3D printing??? :o None of that here......... Just plasticard and a sharp knife.

Cheers guys, glad you're liking it do far. Hearing that helps give me some incentive to get this done :-\ It's starting to be a long hard slog to get it done but at least now the end is in sight. The prows shouldn't take too long. I'm going to make one vaguely like the high conveyor from ASC 2.0 and another like the Emperor Battleship (without the sensors).
As for the detail, all I can think about is how it will paint up so I'd hate to have a large patch of flat surface with no details. So, if I see a spot I think is lacking I whack some plasticard there.......then there..... and a little bit there. And on and on it goes. Looking at the pictures I can see some spots that I think could do with some details. Like the back edge between the wing and the engines.
The under cut on that bridge is going to be a pain to cast. Should reconsider it, or make a separate piece to be cast and glued on.
The side fins/wings are separate so you can have the mould join down the length of the ship. So it shouldn't be too hard to cast up. I've been in contact with the chap who has cast a few of my bits up and he says it should be fine. (We'll see I guess!)

Well, I just used thin plasticard (0.5mm) and bent it. :-\ Not quite sure what else to say really. I made the skeleton of the prow, filed it so the prow 'armour' had a smooth surface to stick to and then glued the 0.5mm plasticard to the frame. Then cut it to size.

Space bug........ Yeah, dammit, that's got to happen now as well. Although in fairness that would be it's attack craft. Do I it as an Escort(s) or a light cruiser? I'm thinking light cruiser so it's a bit more fun than just a bunch of escorts but I'm open to ideas.
I put 'space bug' into Google translate and it came up with "spatium cimex"........ but Astra Insectus does sound a lot better.
I should have Rubrum Nanum done in a few days. Looking a bit bland at the moment though so no pics. :/
EDIT: Oh, my High conveyor arrived at the Casters yesterday so I should have some casts in about two weeks. A few issues as, as it's hollow they can't make the mould in a vacuum :/ Hopefully it will come good though.

Despite having almost 20,000pts in Gothic I have very little in the way of scenery. With all my hobby stuff packed away due to a house move I had little in the way of little ships to hand so I finally bit the bullet and started making some scenery! - Asteroids!
They're pretty simple, just some 'Lava Rocks' I picked up from the local supermarket. There's more than pictured here, I have about 40 in total now and that was only half the bag! (not bad for £6!).
I also threw some bits on one of the larger rocks to make a quick and easy Space station. It's not had much effort put into the paint job but, hey, it's only scenery. ;D

nice terrain, had a load of volcanic rock in a bag for the same purpose but it disappeared at some point.
nice additions for the space station, i always liked the artwork of the space fort made from asteroids chained together.
red dwarf is looking good as is the high conveyor. i like the idea that it dwarfs a battleship in size but is lacking on the weaponry front, it fits the fluff of a huge tanker turned into a man o war, not a true warship but something else twisted and pressed into that role

Malika, what kind of modules do you mean? I made some 'fuel' pods like the normal transport. They are going to be bulk cast so you'll get 8 with each ship. However if you want some other pods then what are you after? I'm sure I can knock something up and send it to the casters :)
Radu, yeah, it's about time one of us made some scenery :P I'm making (re-doing) some planets at the moment. The last ones were a rush job. I may do the chain up asteroids - I like that artwork as well and it could be a good way to represent some weapon platforms. I need to make some of those as well. Ideally I want 500pts of Defences (I have a station and a dock which is 240pts) so that means I need to make 8 weapon platforms......... Although I may make some mine fields as well for funsies :D

Cool stuff. Are these your designs? I have stumbled upon these before and that's where the idea for Rubrum Nanums prow came from - in fact the whole ship is based on the Heavy transports. I was going to do a very similar prow for the High Conveyor but never bothered with it.
I could make something like those pods. That shouldn't take too long or be that much of a problem. Maybe when I get my ar$e into gear and make the second prow I'll make some of those pods to go with it.

Not a massive update but we're currenty moving house so Hobby time is at a premium at the moment! Still, to add to my growing collection of BFG scenery I have some planets. Excuse the quality of the pictures, the lighting is horrific. The green pools are actually highlighted bilious green so are quite luminous in reality. Maybe some more pics tomorrow..... maybe.

I had bought a cheap resin 'copy' of a Retribution from China as a present for a fellow hobbyist but the quality of the cast was pants so I ended up salvaging what I could and re-did my 'sawn-off' Battleship. This will be my Avenger Grand cruiser for my Rogue Trader fleet (with armoured prow, Prow torps and 45cm Weapon Batteries!!!). I also went ahead and painted/finished some swords.

Well, the two Merchantmen are done. Based on the Dauntless hull. Fluff-wise they are mothballed and derelict Siluria class cruisers that have been recommissioned and converted into transport ships. I'm thinking about adding some freehand or something to the prows but I couldn't decide what........ so, until I do they are finished. :D

Well, some work this afternoon saw me build the 'master' model for my transport. It's not massively detailed but considering how small it is IT WILL DO. I'm going to see if my 'Caster' can knock this up for me as I need 12. If not I'll have to have a go myself. 0.o

The Merchantmen came about because I had two miscast resin dauntless sitting about in the miscast box (no, never throw anything away!). They were too knackered to bother saving but the engine blocks were usable!!
Anyway, speaking of casts. I got my first sneak peek of the High Conveyor today. A few issues with the mould/cast - as you can see but I'm told he will address these issues in the next few goes. ((Hopefully I'll grab any miscasts!!))

After these two, a Navigator and a Kal Jerico model I'll be doing a Sister of Battle. So there's your Power armour. After her it's the SPACE WOLF. So, that good enough for ya? :P
As for "How Deadly". Honestly, I dunno. No where near Assassin deadly but Deathcult sort of stats maybe? She'll be more of an all rounder but will mostly rely on stealth rather than HULK SMASH. (Que The Space Wolf).

Yes mate. I'm just waiting to get the casts off the caster and then I'll get the ball rolling! It's taking him a bit longer than normal due to the size and detail of the thing. Plus he has a lot of kickstarters at the moment which means he is somewhat busy!
Unfortunately I'm only getting 10 casts for sale. I can order more but I just don't have the spare cash to go throwing money at Resin at the moment. Selling the 10 ships will basically pay for the moulds (which are blummin' expensive!). Once they sell I'll order some more.

If you are referring to the weapon ports it's not an issue if they are not included is it? That just makes it a convertible kit. Besides I'm pretty sure I see custom haulage container price for the ports too...

The model will come with 8 of the little fuel pods shown in the top right of the previous picture. I've cropped the picture (below) so you know which part I mean. No GW parts will be sold with this ship ;) Or were used to make it!

A little update, nothing massive as I'm just not getting enough time to concentrate on sculpting. Just the head gear, hair and the little visor/sight thing is done. It was quite hard discerning what was actually going on with the gunsights in the picture so a bit of artistic licence was used!!
Looking at her face now, I think her nose is a little 'blunt' so I might re-do the tip of her nose. We'll see. I'm going to ditch the sword in favour of having two pistols. Because two pistols is cooler, although It does mean I need to make two Holsters instead of the one!

Lol, In all fairness mate you wouldn't see them. She is going to have spare ammo for her two pistols on her belt which will cover up the majority of her lower back. Plus pouches for Smoke and Blind grenades so, yeah, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;)

Ta very much! Although I kinda lied. This isn't the second face I've done........ it's more the second face I've finished. There's been a fair few that didn't make it or I threw accross the room in frustration. Although it helps a great deal when you sculpt on top of an existing head. Especially when the nose is still there. :D
Attached is a pic of my first 'sculpted to completion' face. Actually, the whole model is all sculpted. The face is pretty crap looking at it now but at the time I was proud.

Ok, well, that didn't go as planned. The pouches for the spare Ammo clips turned out to be too small for the clips on her pistol. Rather than continue with something I know would annoy me I removed them and started again *sigh*.
In other news. This is a 'prototype' light cruiser/Merchantman for my Rogue Trader fleet. I might do two more, or they might look completely different........ I'm not sure yet. It's built out of Sentinel pelvis, Sentinel Multi Laser and the bridge is a Sentinel Knee cap. I have quite a lot of Sentinel legs left over from making a few guard buggies out of the cockpit........ so I might finally find a use for the parts! huzzah!

Holy shit! That's a beautiful kitbash that I'm sure will now be replicated by pretty much everyone that sees it! It's very tau looking... Like an Imperial version of a tau vessel. Great stuff and very suitable as a rogue trader escort...

That's one of the best kit bashes I've seen in a long long time, if not ever! Most of the time the usage of 40k parts really betrays, but you've managed to do it in such a way that you'd hardly recognise it (except for the multi-laser's barrel, but that's forgivable).

You're probably right about the red. It's highlighted up from Red Gore to Blood Red but for some reason I have always sucked at photography Red. Still, my photography skills aside, it could probably do with another layer. I'm also going to go back and add some markings and insignia to them.
General use really. Just some NPC pieces to annoy player characters, act as guards or what have you. Although the idea of a Witch/Bounty hunter who only uses Servo Skulls and Mastiffs does sound pretty awesome.

wow! you must be pleased with those high conveyors. love the little transports too. its amazing how fast I went through my 'stock' of gw metal transports in the last year. they are a great side project as its fun to have something you can paint up in a different colourscheme to the rest of your fleet without feeling the need to create a whole new battlegroup sometimes.
totally get the ocd regarding the photo lineup... that would bug me too... looking forward to painted shots soon...

How are the rates for getting stuff cast in resin? I've been attempting to tempt Vanguard Miniatures to switch to resin, but they claim metal is still a whole lot cheaper (which is perfect for keeping prices in the store down).

To be honest as a customer, I'd choose metal over resin any day. Just oldskool I guess. But big stuff like battleships size are easier to work with in resin it's true. If you get a good castor working the moulds there's not always a lot of difference in the detail quality and some resin I've had has just been appalling quality as far as mold lines and bubbles are concerned...

Well, the mould and 12 casts were something like £175 so not cheap. I'm pretty sure the chap gives me a discount as well. I forget the break down but the mould was the most expensive (more than half). Individual casts vary depending on size of the model. The Transports were £1.50 for each cast I think but the mould will be about £20 (I haven't been invoiced for them yet!). The Cultist mould was £40ish and each set of 3 models was £7.
Metal Vs resin. Personally, I'm with OSJC. Metal is just nicer to use and can always be stripped and reused if needs be. It's also more robust. We've all dropped models but resin has the tenancy to shatter. On the flip side, dropping a metal Gothic ship is bad news as the stands break 99% of the time (even on escorts).
Well, no pics yet but I'm in the process of painting up 12 Havocs, 4 Escort Carriers, 6 recommissioned Escorts and 2 Conveyors :D

The fragility of flying stands are the reason I've switched to using copper roofing nails as bases these days. As you can see on my thread. Even though smaller than the smallest bfg stand, the copper is robust enough to hold up a battleship. Cheap to get on eBay too. Also nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way about resin. Nessacary evil these days... I miss white metal... :(

Well, the first High Conveyor is done. I went for the 'Dust-cart in space' look. Originally I ha planned a white prow but, well, someone beat me to the mark with that so I went with the hazard stripes :D Part of me wants to think they are the biggest hazard stripes ever created by man. I think they would be hard to beat ;)

Nope, the Little ships are WIP (Work in progress). They have just had a Base coat, wash and dry brush. They still need all the little details adding. There's two at the front which are done though. (the ones out of focus naturally!)

Oh well..... Been far to long since I actually updated this thread with pictures of toy soldiers so I'll show you some of my current WIPs.
First up is the Cadian Guard squad. Luckilly some chap kindly put up LOADS of guard gear on Ebay so I grabbed enough to seriously flesh out the squad with kit and gubbinz. Plus grenades and knives for everyone!!!! I just need to get my arse into gear and finish the missile launcher chap!! Once he's done, painitng time!

To be honest, life has got a bit 'busy' lately. So hobby time isn't really happening. At least not enough to sit and paint much. :(

Wow, been a while. Works been manic, been moving house, Christmas and being distracted by 40k is not really a good recipe for Specialist games!! Hopefully that will change now (ish).
I've started to make some more Inquisitor scaled terrain (it's for a specialist game so that counts right?). The first up is a warehouse (racking systems and all!). Not sure what it's meant to be containing but most likely fuel and weapons storage because that makes games more interesting :D

I've also started work on yet another Marine. Mostly because I find them fun to convert, easy to paint and I had the parts knocking around my bits box. Unfortunately those parts were in pretty bad shape and he was missing and arm and a leg.

The idea behind him is that after he was severely injured and forced out of active line duty he was selected to act as a delegate for the chapter. He now goes off to create and strengthen ties with other imperial forces.
So, I need ideas for....
1] His name (he looks fairly Roman?)
2] His chapter (preferably not a well known or old one)
3] Ideas for his bionics because I'm not happy with his arm
4] Should I add a shoulder pad to his left arm? I kinda like the un armoured shoulder look. Plus it makes him look like less of a combatant. Well, as much as an 8ft tall power armoured killing machine can look.

Warehouse is finally done. All the stock is in there. Notice boards are up, lights are in place and fire escape is serviceable. Now all the need is to start hiring staff!!! Oh, and maybe some vending machines.... Because staff can't work without a trusty Ration bar or Nuka Cola can they?!

Ok, I reworked Brother Aetius' (yes, he has a name now!) bionic arm. Quite happy with it now. I liked the shoulder and upper arm part so I kept that, I found a spare elbow in my bitz box and the rest just came together! I also did the green stuff work and added some small cables to the the bionic leg.
Thoughts on the bionics and the pose in general?

Thanks OSJC. Think I should add more armour to the whole leg? I don't mind adding a knee pad. I was originally thinking about adding a greave to the bionic leg but became rather fond of the minimalistic bionic look. Someone has also suggested that I add a shoulder pad to the bionic arm........ I'm not sure about that but it makes sense I suppose.

I would just stick to the kneepad. As I'm thinking of what you'd normally see on a 40k bionic. As for the shoulder pauldron. Hmm... It's true gw would normally have either a full size or even scout sized pad on there but it means you're gonna loose all that lovely joint detail. I myself would leave it... Just my two pennith I know but look at it this way. You can always add a pad later if you're not convinced?
Oh yeah... Names. Now he's looks to be a Proximo to me..
Tempestus Proximo of the storm giants? Bone armour with red lightning strike. Would be a nice contrast to the shiny bionics...

I'm thinking that it would make more sense to have the shoulder pad and, yeah, it does help keep the classic marine shape but I just like the way it looks!! So I'm pretty much set on keeping it 'as is'. I'm still thinking about the knee pad. Maybe I will.......... Maybe I wont. :/
As for the Chapter, I'd rather not have an existing Chapter. Especially one as renowned as the Storm Giants. The theory behind this chap is that he's an ambassador for a newly formed chapter that is trying to create links and strengthen ties with other Imperial factions.
I want to add a darker twist to his role though. I'm thinking of the marine chapter suffering massive casualties during an inter-civil war (potentially heretical or geneseed debasement). So whilst he is out there trying to obtain more geneseed and gear he's also trying to cover up (even assassinate) people that are questioning or digging into the Marines sudden loss of numbers.

I'm being massively distracted by 40k at the moment (boo!) so haven't managed to do anything Gothic or Specialist games for a looooooooong time. Lack of opponents is the main issue really. I just don't get much motivation when all the ships seem to do is sit in a case!!

Mostly guard and marines... Last bfg I did was a merchant light cruiser, remember that? Also did some system ship bits and some of Malikas ordnance bits around the same time but I'm reasonably sure you've seen those... That cruiser(?) looks tasty. I'm assuming it's cruiser sized..? Personally, I like your eagle prow far better. The skull is JUST that little bit wonky. It would be fine if for example I had done it, but with the backdrop of your excellent scratchbuilds it detracts too much. It's all your own fault really, could have half-arsed everything and it would have fit, but nooo! ;D
Just kidding of course, but seeing how great your other greens have been up to now I would vote for a do-over!

I've built 10 Battleships *shudders*. The only thing worse than that is a China recast battleship! The parts were wonky when they were cast and made even wonkier when they came out the mould!! Even though I complain, I'd rather deal with metal than Resin. I dunno why, I just prefer it. I wish I could get my ships done in metal instead.

Thought I'd grab a deal off Facebook and grabbed two metal space stations for £30. Unfortunately one of them was really badly cast (apparently it is genuine, I'm still dubious). So action had to be taken and it ended up being a double station! Kinda works I think even if it does look like a Burger. (Burger Station 1)

If I ever got my hands on a couple of these that's exactly what I would have done, looks so much better than the single one.
As for the casting, when I got my Apocalypse (when the SG lines were being scrapped) the wing section was badly cast, but only where you couldn't see it when built. Looks like GW didn't give a crap when ending these.

To be fair, the later Fanatic/Specialist games stuff was all pretty poor. The Dark Eldar ships, Tau and Imperial Grand Cruisers are all awful in my opinion. The Space station suffers from that era as well. It's just random bits of weapon batteries and turrets covered with awkward bits of plasticard. Plasticard that's not even stuck or cut straight. Don't get me started on the later Inquisitor 54mm models *shudders*

Anyway, I had an old miscast Conveyor that has been kicking around since the very first batch. It was a bit knackered after I let my little'un play with it and paint it as well.......... but it was still workable and after some TLC turned out ok I think. I had an idea about a more rounded prow with a little flight bay on the underneath as well. Also changed the 'Mass Pods' to ones more like the art work.
The conversion and paint job is a bit of a rush job. I did it all today.

Well. Everyone seems to love the endeavour style but I put that down to how short lived the line from gw were.
Also the ability to swap out the plastic gundecks etc is obviously favourable, conversion wise.
It seems that these days we seem to be comparitively swamped with third party versions of them.
I've done enough that's for sure!
However, I've never seen a voss prow on a dauntless hull. would be interesting to see for sure... I toyed with the idea couple 'o' years back now as I had a load of Voss prows but dauntless' are hard to come by. Now even more...

Think I might end up doing one of each to be fair. Or at least an endeavour with a Voss style row for dauntless conversions. We'll see! I have some holiday booked next week and the week after so expect some plasticard shenanigans in the near future :D
Right, been touching up some of my old Voss ships. Nothing major, a bit of neatening up and I removed the Lances for launch bays. Not before I added magnets to everything though so I can swap the weapons. I also spruced up my Battleship with magnets and a little more effort into the paintjob.

Alas, none have appeared so I have decided to bite the bullet and make the missing part. I have now realised how much work is actually involved in doing this and wish I hadn't started :( But, I have started. And I WILL finish it. Dammit. Gonna go for a more armoured up Voss style prow. Basically a scaled up version of the Falchion escort prow.

Oh as for the tubes it's best you do what (mango)Zac soden does. Mark it well, Drill out the holes bigger than wanted. Then fill the hole with GS and remodel the torpedo port into the soft GS. Then file/scrape level/clean after dry...

Update. Not a massive one but there's a LOT of work gone into it. Especially as I had to redo the banding along the front dorsal section as it was all to close together and wasn't symmetrical to the rear section (the rear section had 3 bands above the weapon port, the front weapon port had 4 above it! Also added the Torpedo tubes along the bottom to be a little bit different. However the prow now looks more like an up-scaled version of the Dauntless light cruiser than a Voss prow :/

Needed a break from plasticard to be honest and started work on a new fleet. Ebay seems to be somewhat light on Light cruisers (see what I did there?) at the moment so I dug out an old mould and cast a couple up. I don;t think I ever made a mould of the antennae section but I think they look alright without it. The moulds a bit old and there's loads of mis-moulds and mis-casts but they'll do!!

Ah, that's the dauntless goodness! Loving the bridge eagles. And the plastic aerials look miles better anyhow. As for colour, ever considered inversed gothic? White with darkangelsgreen prow? Seen he do that with Thier fleet for a cruiser (a tyrant class I believe) and it worked rather nicely

I've always hated white lol. Always. I never seem to be able to just 'dry brush it up' as you call it. I always have to paint it properly and highlight and blend it up. So it takes forever.

Please God do not add the banding and spike! It's lovely without and I think no torpedoes either. Perhaps an underslung las lance?

Ah........ well, hopefully you wont hate this then. The consensus on on BFG Facebook group was to add the spike. I'm 50/50 at the moment. I like it without but the spike is growing on me the more I look at it. I justified adding it with the reasoning that resin is easy to clip off and file down so if people don't like the spike, they can remove it.
I went with under slung Torpedo tubes. Feels like a cop out...... I don't know why.

Definitely do it! I did the same conversion on a light cruiser chassis back in the day using a powerfist as a base point of the conversion. The ship was called st anger... Lol I think that ship ended up with someone else though as I'm buggered if I know where it is now...

Thanks guys. What wrong with it? 7 layers, that's what's wrong with it :P Although, to be fair, I think the green on my Gothic fleet is probably just as much with all the washes etc..
I'll paint a Battleship (eventually) and an old Emperor class ship from space fleet (to use as an Endeavour/Endurance) in those colours. I'll hopefully get the light cruiser done but I'll have to wait until I get the samples back to get the Battleship underway :( Not sure what else I want in the fleet though!
EDIT: I forgot to say, I sliced about 1mm off the backs of those launch bays so they didn't stick out so far. I really like the slimmed down look. I'll be doing that for future ships!

Black and green seem a little big too regular to me. I mean the surface is important, it would have added someting to insert an other colour at some point, maybe.
And on the other hand, the white prew is very nice and it's because of this long regularity on the rest of the colour.

Grud, the scratch building is mighty here, I like the subtle changes in prows very much. Might the prows ever be available like your high conveyor, I think they’d be interesting replacements for the Helios range. Er do you have some master plan on putting all your fleets on the table some day?
Where might a humble squig dung shoveler like me source those resin ships you posted previously? They have a Resin Addict vibe to them and I know Vaish was dabbling somewhere.

Which resin ships were you talking about? There's a lot in this thread ;) I could do a full fleet picture, but will probably hold off until it's painted. It's a lot to get out after all!!

ok, thats not at all where I thought you were going with the fist-prow dealie. ;D
when I did mine it was kinda more like a ram added to the end of the prow, also a friend reminded me, it was not a power fist, but an old (and I mean old, the metal/plastic hybrid kit) chaos knight hand, as it had a flared gauntlet look that was rather nice on the end of the prow. so essentially a fancier ram simply painted as gold/bronze but, yeah full fist prow, why not? very astartes to my mind...

Ah someone over on the Dakka page wanted a whole prow as a 'ram' so figured I'd do this. Purely for him really. I'm not overly fond of it but...... hey, he wanted it. It's actually growing on me now it has more details on it.
Ok, so I have a couple of ideas for future prows. One is based off the old Dominator Battleship from Space fleet - As I don't have a nova Cannon in the set. I'm also thinking of the old dictator as well, which basically has a massive drill as a prow. Not sure on the drill, but definitely going to do the Nova cannon.

I’m inclined to leave the antenna - they accentuate the ships hull sides. If they come off it might end up seeming a bit skinny? ???
I like that transport prow, will you be putting that into the set you’re selling or separately? If separate prows are on the horizon that would be awesome- I have slow burn plans for an upgraded fleet.

Right, another rescue attempt. I had two cruiser hulls in seriously bad repair. One was missing the entire front section and both had bits cut out of the hull. Rather than chuck them I decided to cobble together a Furious class grand cruiser.

Right, well, I changed the prow again :P I feel this is probably about the right size and if it isn't I'm certainly not changing it now!!! It Looks a bit boring I think so might go and add some different colours here and there (no idea where). Although I still need to do those little heraldry shield things on the prow - which will be white and red. I wanted to to look like an old, battered ship come out of the reserve fleet. Noice! I see you bought some of those light cruiser kits off eBay from Russia too eh? Just FYI it's a recast of admgr's light cruiser over on shapeways. Cheaper this way that's for sure... I got two for my fleet. One to replace The endeavour of that format I already had (in the hideous lo Res medium) and one to be an endurance class... All awaiting paint at the mo. Like what you did there. The prow suits that ship for sure. RT jobby is inspired!

Yes mate. I bought two of them to be Endeavours in my Armageddon fleet but they're far, far to big to be light cruisers. The Prows are bigger than the normal cruisers and the whole ship is almost as long as a normal cruiser. So I was somewhat disappointed by them, especially as they both have a miscast on them :( The RT ship was a proper hacksaw job. I used both weapon bays from the two Light cruisers and the Engine section.
I'm not impressed by 3D printed things to be honest. The texture always seem rough and you can see the lines on them.

As for the prints with 3D Printers, i have seen some exceptionnaly thing prints, and frankly you can't see any line. But well, it's still a recent technology. We can expect an improvement in the quality on the further months.
3D printed is the futur of our hobby. Clearly.

Until the 3D printing creates a nice smooth finish though, I'll stick with scratch building and plasticard! :D Glad you like the new Prow though.
On a random note. The Additional Ships compendium. Was there one release by GW? I found an 'original' but it seems like it was released before the 'Yellow book'. So the points are a bit off.

It's truly a shame that 3d print is slowly(?) replacing real talent like yours lordb. But it will never truly. I get the whole "fugly print lines" thing as they are not only annoying but also systemic. Meaning even if you physically file or sand them smooth they are in each successive layer. And due to the unpredictable and unstable nature of the various mediums I've known said print lines to grow back. Yes you read that right GROW back. Like white crusty crystal formations. Oftimes a good paintjob will prevent this. But if left unpainted for a lengthy time a shapeways fud model will be covered in this all over. Also sometimes after painting the model can become oily and shiny even through the paint. Some of my fud printed prows and ships have gone this way inside a storage case... Sad...
Yeah that won't happen to these as they are recasts but. Yeah that's one savage miscast isn't it. Mine were BAD. It's well hidden in his pics... But you know seven quid, two ships and I personally love the design. Oversized or not... Just put them further away? Lol!

I do love a good scratchbuild personally - one day I’ll start a thread here and share my schtuff. 3D printing has it’s place but for now I’ll stuck with the old school (particularly Vanguard once they get round to a few other models).

I don't think sratchbuild will ever be lost. It's just not the same thing.
And from my point of view, 3D files design IS an artistic and creative hobby. As much as scratchbuild. A different way, but still creation. Check what Malika is doing and you will see what i mean.

It still needs some work around the joints in the armour but I'm pretty chuffed with how it's taken. I had to apply about 4 of 5 coats around some areas to get them to smooth out.
Whilst I'm on about the carapace armour. The main armour will be black but I'm unsure of the raised armour around his head. Should it be gold? I'm worried it will be to much gold......
I also started work on the knee plates. I have just done a freehand Legio Crucius symbol that took me hours to do. (I figured they can have close ties to the Titan Legion (future purchase? ;D) Pictures of that when I've completed the other details.

Stormwind: Honestly, I don't use decals much either. I usually try to freehand everything I do and only really use decals if I'm doing gaming models and then they're kinda just slapped on. So this is all learning on the job for me.

Made a big vent thing. It still needs some more posters and maybe some random debris. Also could do with some slime/Goo where the 'monster' has escaped. I sold out and the poster is a print out.

Also started work on a board length pipe system that will link into one of the buildings. There may or may not be a walkway on the top of it or to the side. I'm not decided yet. Either way it'll be a good way to hop from building to building and fall to ones death!!

Got a few more of those printed off. Decided to just use prit stick to stick the print outs to the plastic as the colour was running when I used PVA glue. It has the text "F**K Taco Bell, eat a Rat Burger!" but you can't see it on that bill board :/ I've done some more posters for the painted Admin building but I'm struggling to get the pictures off my phone (computer says no)
A new bill board anyway. It's still WIP but it's a far bit larger and has some gubbinz on the base (to weigh it down more than anything!)

Well.. So, Necromunda and the board has been put on hold for a little while due to be being distracted by tiny titans. God knows why I haven't got into this game before...... but hey, I'm here now. I must say, these models are fantastically detailed, they're easy to build and a joy to paint.... I just wish there was Orks!!
First up is two Warhounds. I'm going to add some weathering to the feet once I do the bases. However I'll do the bases along with the other titans in the maniple (2 Reavers and 1 Warlord). Well..... that's what's currently built. I have after the maniple 2 Warlords, 1 Nemesis, 6 Reavers and 6 Warhounds in boxes to get cracking through.

I tried to get away from my usual dry brush and wash approach that I've been using for what seems like forever. Also, a mate of mine was complaining that all my armies were either black or Metallics. As I have never, ever, done a white army before I decided to go there... it's a choice I am regretting lol. Oh well... only 18 or so models to paint in this scheme.... :o

Some WIP shots of my Reavers. They look pretty messy at the moment and I'm not sure I like the purple.... It's a bit Tron like and I'm not overly fond of harsh highlights..... So they might well get toned down with a wash at some point. I'll wait until the Gold is done first before I make that call though.

That purple is well lush. Once the gold's between the white and it it will look much less overtly highlighted I'm sure.the shiny gold is where your eye'll go first...

I've been painting these all week. It's taken me 6-8 hours just to tidy up the trim and paint the gold..... but they are almost done! Just have to highlight the black, do the copper tubing, lenses and random little details and bits that I haven't worked out how to paint yet.

Due to needing something easy to dabble on to give my eyes a rest I've been working on this wee chap. No idea what he's for yet as he certainly wont be painted in the White/Purple scheme. If anyone was wondering if the Vanguard Terrain turrets scaled right for AT reavers, well, they do. I converted one up to be a Plasma Blast gun purely because a mate of mine wondered about them.

I've seen similar poses on T'interwebs and wanted to do my own running Reaver. Although I am kinda regretting not doing my original plan and having him pining a Warhound to the floor with his foot and ripping its head off.
I'm thinking of having him as sort of a 'shattered' legion Titan. So either his Legio was wiped out or it turned traitor and he's joined up with other loyal forces to enact hit and run and vengeance strikes on the enemy. However, as he has little to no support to call on I'm going to give him sort of a salvaged appearance, as if he's pinched armour plates and maybe even limbs from other titans. No idea what colour scheme I'll use as a base though, ideas?

You could do the classic gw warlord titan colour of a pale olive green? Then the alternate limbs could be done in Grey's and perhaps bone/beige colours that are on the same tonal range as the green. That way it would still look slightly disperate but not too rag tag... Got to keep the eye focused on the head...
Also the whole "ripping and tearing an enemy" rarely looks good on models imho. It's more of a diorama thing and often takes away from the model you want to show off... But that's just my opinion. I feel there the sort of thing that beginners love to do but rarely execute well. However. A man of your talents could very likely manage it but it feels a bit cringe to me...

Well, I'm not overly fussed about a rag tag appearance but I will try and keep it some what coherent. I do want a patched up war-torn appearance. I was thinking the Carapace weapon could be done a military Camo, as if the crew had salvaged it from a turret or something?
You're probably right about the pose, I just haven't grown out of that stage yet :D Another idea that popped into my head was to do one wielding a crane as a club

I haven't done the writing yet and I'm still deciding on names. (Weapons and names are tomorrows/Friday's job). I put 2 watered down washes of Sepia over the yellow and it has toned it down a fair deal. However the camera still loves brightening it up and dulling down the red.... So I've giving up trying to sort that out! She's finished, well, apart for some minor details that I've just noticed. The car on the base isn't painted nor is it even stuck on!

I started work on some scenery (buildings, roads and hills). Nothing too fancy. the buildings will have bases and I need to make some more road sections as well but its enough for a 4x4 board..

Good job again. As for the monotone aspect one thing which would look, be a bit impractical, but hey, would be a regal banner hanging down from the shoulder pad.

if you mean the bases looking monotone, (I assume you are as the titans are anything but monotone nor boring) I think leave them as-is. it adds to the scale. any real level of detail would be lost at that size. the earthy colours of the dessert blending smoothly and gently, just as you've already achieved rather than any added stark contrasts or whatever.
So, just my two-pennith but I'd say they're fine...

Thanks guys. Well, I'll leave them as is then. I think the next ones I'll add some more variations in rock sizes and try to make the bases les 'flat' with some filler. That should hopefully make the bases more interesting.
I have started the Warlord. God this thing is a beast in terms of detail. I spent about 5 hours blending the White from Ulthuan grey to pure skull white but the pics make it look like it's just been sprayed white lol. Oh well..... The pictures are more to prove I've actually been working on something :D
Oh, and some Reaver weapons snuck into the picture there as well. So there's proof I have actually finished something else. (please excuse the messy paint station!)

I start all my bases with GS or miliput. (Usually gs though) add rocks, sand and debris. Then use the old crackle paint.i find that gives a good variation in height that reduces the flat look. However the flat look is ideal for desert type areas, so swings and roundabouts un it?

I picked up some of the 'crackle paint'. Which is funny, because that's exactly what my 5 year old calls it ;). It's good stuff!! I did use it on all the bases as well. I might make a few mounds with GS. I've used Polyfilla in the past but that shatters or cracks far more than I'm happy with.
Todays mission completed! The purple is done. Again it looks a little Tron like but I'm hoping, as before, the gold trim will calm it down. Tomorrows job is the black although it will probably take me tomorrow and the day after :(

Well, turns out the black only took me about 4hours to do so I got that done in a day. The gold on the other hand is proving to be much more of a job that I had thought it would be. Still, the gold is almost done!!

The Purple is Xereus Purple mixed 50/50 with black for the base. Then more purple to high light up with and then finally mixing white in for the harsher highlights. Although, I did mix in some of the old GW Purple ink to get a sort of glossy feel to the paint. A satin varnish would probably achieve the same result.
I finished the gold and started the silver (it's just leadbelcher). I did get the little shields done although I'm still deciding on heraldry for the other pad.

I grabbed a couple of Warlords off ebay and I just realised one of them was a bit damaged and had dents in the armour and rivets were worn off in placed. Which sucks and I have no idea which person I bought which one from! So I decided to just make another force of titans! :D I'll do a 1500pt force of the yellow and Red/black checked Titans. I had intended for him to be charging forward about to shoulder barge something but I messed the pose and he's a bit too hunched over I think. I doubt I'll be able to pull him apart to fix him now so he is how he is!! I also went and removed every imperial eagle as well (you'd be surprised how many there are). Battle damage and additional armour plates to come!

I had a day off and managed some 'me time' (which is immensely rare now I'm back at work) and got the silver done and started doing some detail work! Eyes/lenses. Pipes. Neatening up. That sort of thing. There's still loads to do. I even had a crack at some glowy plasma effect on the Vents but not sure I'm happy with it to be honest with you.

I also started painting my 'other' warlord. The Yellow is just washes, two highlights and then more washes but I think it might need some more washes to darken it down. Again I tried some glow effect on the vents but I think I'm gonna need some more practice at this to get it looking good. I'll be cracking on with the diamond pattern on my next day off.

Thanks guys. I actually glad you like the pose on that warlord as I cocked up the legs whilst building it. It was supposed to be standing on a fallen titan but I messed it up. Tried to reposition the legs but ended up ripping the plastic at the knee and had to bodge it..........

Added another Cactus to the Warlords and a Reavers base. I guess I'll be making quite a few of these now. Do you guys use Flock on your bases? It's hard to scale I guess but I'd like some dry shrub on there to add some colour/detail. Any ideas?

I hate static poses, so thanks for that :D Especially as the Yellow Warlord was a cock up! I wanted him stood on something but managed to mess it up. then tried to rescue it, failed, ripped the knee joint to pieces and he ended up as he is.

Ok, Finally, FINALLY finished this diamond pattern. I had to correct it in places. Mainly the left front shoulder armour as the pattern curved all over the place. I'm pretty much happy with him how he is although he lacks any sort of markings at the moment.

I saw a starter on eBay for a steal (a 3rd of RRP!) and couldn't resist. All the titans/kngihts were prebuilt and either sprayed silver or part painted but, hey, I'm still happy :D The Reaver isn't posed exactly how I imaged him but that's mainly due to not being able to pull it apart at the hip joints. Oh well. It''ll do!! He'll be joining the Yellow and Diamond pattern Legio.

cor, thats a great pose with the wrecked warhound. thanks for proving me wrong about that. I think its because the interaction between the two is simply foot on top that stops it being a cheese fest and more of a sense of context...

The pose is a little off to be honest. I wanted him more crouched and leaning to the left (his left), almost like he was using the warhound as a platform to push off from into another opponent. But he kinda ended up standing on the Warhound like a Trophy. I still like the pose though, even if it isn't as dynamic as I envisioned.
I do need a name for him/her though. Any ideas? I have a name for the Warhound already; Trux animalis (Filthy Animal). The other Reaver is Ferrum Meretrix (Iron Whore). So I need something of similar vein. Plus the Warlord as well for that matter. I never did decide for him.

Not much of an update I'm afraid.
I had a spare Quake Cannon knocking about so figured I'd add it to the yellow Warlord. However, to fit their theme I wanted a combat attachment :D I mean, a Bayonet longer than a Leman Russ is a thing, right?

I tried a new technique with the plasma coils. I like it but it doesn't look anything like the tutorial. Hopefully by the time I've painted the other 5 Sunfury Annihilators and the 8 Warhound Plasma guns I'll be better at it :D

It's not lol. I haven't done this much painting in ages. I've painted almost 6000 points in Titanicus and cant remember the last time I've actually completed a force - if completed is the right word as I still have loads of Titans unbuilt in the cupboard of shame.
However some times it is nice to have an incentive or a deadline. I haven't worked on any scenery since the lock down as, what's the point? Playing Necromunda almost religiously every Sunday gave me loads of incentive to keep tinkering and adding to my board.
Swings and roundabouts though!! Hobby is Hobby at the end of the day! At least I'm still doing something!

I've not had much time to myself this last week so I haven't been able to spend any 'decent' time hobby-ing. Despite this I still had the itch to apply paint to something! ANYTHING! so I went and worked on some tiny buildings. I actually had quite a bit of fun painting these up despite them just being Grey dry brushes. I still have some roads to paint and the 'flat top' building WILL have a statue on it when I can source an old 2nd Edition Marine from somewhere.

I built my second Warlord for the White Titans.I wanted a bit more of a dynamic action pose......... however, once again I messed up at the hip joint so instead of charging forward he's more plodding slowly towards the enemy. Which has it's own charm I think. I still like the pose as it has a feel of 'weight' about it. I also chopped off each of his toes on his right foot to reposition them.

Yes mate, the Warlord is going to be done White and Purple. Once I decide on what panels to do what colour. I was thinking a somewhat opposite scheme to the other Warlord. So white shoulders and maybe a Purple Torso? I dunno. I should really add checks and or Chevrons to them but I cant decide if it will work or not. White and Purple chevrons? Hmmm...... Would yellow and black chevrons be out of place on them?
Haha, yes mate. It's pure nostalgia! I have no idea to be honest. It seemed like a good idea to be honest and the other Cacti were a fair bit of effort so I needed something simpler. They're just little balls of green stuff with paper slip stuck into the bigger ones for spikes. So basically Zero effort. Painting is just Moot Green, Beil tan wash. Then stippled with Moot Green, Scorpion Green and the Bilious Green (old GW colours). Its the same way I do the lenses, plasma and glow effects on the titans to it helps tie the force together......... well..... That's my logic anyway.
After your surprise present of 8mm marines I went and bought a load of Guardsmen from Vanguard to put on my bases. I like the idea of putting infantry on the bases to give a sense of scale. With the occasional Marine Squad thrown in :D

and the addition of guard on the base will add some real scale for sure. I mean, a cactus can be all sorts of sizes but a man sized detail sets it straight, doesnt it.

Good shout. I'll see if I can do the odd armour panel in black and yellow chevrons and see how it works out. I can always strip it if i hate it. Not that it will happen any time soon as I'm cracking on with some spare Weapons for the Warlord at the moment. 2 Volcano Cannons and carapace Gatling cannons as well as 2 Gatling cannons for the reavers!!
Those ones ae just bits of paper clips bent into shape and then covered in green stuff! They're a bit fiddly and I'm running out of ways to swear at Cacti....
Yeah! Man I love the Vanguard stuff. The little Urban Guardsmen are awesome and I cant wait to paint up the little quadbikers!! I keep telling myself that they need to wait until I'm done with the 2nd Warlord but, who am I kidding?

I do indeed adore the quality of the vanguard epic infantry. the detail is absurdly good in comparison to the 90's gw plastics and so much variation in pose and armour etc. the thunderhawk proxies are clearly calling to be added to your, already, titanic* force as air support though surely ;) (*pun intended)

I've not had much chance to do any hobby of late but I managed to get some bits done over the Easter weekend (now I'm back to work for seven eleven hour shifts on the bounce!).
I've built 3 Reavers, 2 for the white Lego and 1 for the Yellow Legio. This wee chappy is the 3rd Reaver for the Yellow boys!! I cobbled some Carapace Mega Bolters out of some spare Warlord ones I had kicking about. I kinda like them........ kinda.

Thanks mate. I'm glad they've got character speaking for them :D I liked the idea that they use old battle damage to identify each other rather than any sort of egotistical heraldry. "Scars define us" sort of ethos. I don't know why I went with a uniformed scheme. I kinda regret it but oh well!
I'm currently working on a Nemesis to round out the force to 2000pts. Gonna give it a big old plasma cannon (see link) on top instead of it's Quake Cannon.

This is Rubigo Situla and is still somewhat WIP. I'm not sure what to put in place of the Flak Cannons. I like the mortars on the Warmaster so may well do something like that. I'm not sure. So, this was my first game (I think) since Covid hit and my first game using my Yellow Titans!! My opponent who has been sitting on his titans for about 6 months and still not got them done borrowed my other Titan force. Both were 1530pts (an odd number but hey, at least they matched!). We didn't use Maniple rules, Stratagems or Legio rules as I wanted to keep it basic as it was his first game.
In the White Corner we have
Vetus Gloria (Warlord)
Ultima Nuntius (reaver with Melta Cannon)
Sol Alba (Reaver with Volcano Cannon)
Senex Spe and Friend (Warhounds)
In the Yellow Corner we have..

Deployment and First Turn. Not a lot happened really. Pretty much all of Legio Cariosus pushed their reactors to get closer to the enemy and other than a few pot shots little happened.

Senex Spe and his mate move into the ruined town, only to make a hasty withdrawal as Fallo Amans smashes its way into the town square only to end up squaring off against Ultima Nuntius. As if the war torn town hadn't had it bad enough!!

Vetus Gloria, Sol Alba, Senex Spe face off against Sordidium Senem. It did not end well for poor Sordidium Senem who crashed to the ground in front of the enemy battleline.

Fallo Amans smashes his way through the town to get to grips with the enemy Titans whilst Trux Animalis and Ferrum Meretrix attempt to flank the enemy and get to grips with Senex Spe. Fire from Fragmentum Acervum, Ferrum Meretrix and Trux Animalis finish off Senex Spe's Friend who suffered a Critical meltdown and damages all nearby Titans.

Ferrum Meretrix opens up Spenex Spe's armour with it's chainfist and finished it off with it's Gatling Blaster. This resulted in a complete reactor Meltdown damaging all Titans nearby, some badly.

After Senex Spe went critical Ferrum Meretrix was easy pickings for Sol Alba. Ferrum Meretrix also suffered a critical meltdown and the resulting explosion also caused Fallo Amans AND Trux Animalis to suffer a critical meltdowns as well.

Sol Alba, reeling from the damage suffered from multiple reactor meltdowns then took a direct hit from Fragmentum Acervums quake cannon. Resulting in yet another Critical Meltdown and causing the unfortunate Ultima Nuntius to suffer a magazine detonation. This left Fragmentum Acervum and Vetus Gloria as the only Titans still standing....

Turn 4, with only two Titans left the game could end here.... Fragmentum Acervum rescues the Titan crew. All it needs to do is survive until the end of the game. However Vetus Gloria has other ideas and hits Fragmentum Acervum in the face with it's Belicosa, causing two critical hits....

The game carries on to turn 5. Vetus Gloria wins the initiative and first fires it's Belicosa into Fragmentum Acervums face (again) and finally puts the last of Legio Cariossus down.

Been a while since I managed to get any Titanicus done, mainly as I'm working on a little Necromunda project.
A mate of mine printed off some Plasma Blast guns for my Reavers. I've painted up 4 but only have 2 painted Reavers lol. So I'd better get my posterior in gear and paint up my last 3 Reavers!

Been a while! But I have been a tad busy. I bit the bullet and bought a 3D printer so I've been having some fun with that. More printing and buiding than painting but I have managed to apply paint to a few things!!!

Awesome stuff once again! Regarding the basing of the tiny Armigers. Is the Questoris Knight on a 32mm base or 40mm? It might be nice to have the Armigers on 25mm if the Questoris is on a 32mm one.

Normal Questoris Knights are on 40mm bases. The Cerastus are on a 50mm and an Acastus are on a 60mm bases.
I was hoping to put two Armigers on a single 40mm base to represent a single Questoris but, alas, they're too big so the base is far, far to cramped.

32mm might then be more fitting. The 25mm ones you've used now seem to be fully covered by the model. Some extra space might give you some more play room.

Ok, The Torso is finally finished. Minus some decals on the little shield things and on the Purple Plate above his head anyway. But I'm yet to work out what I want to put where with the Decals. So they can wait.

Next up? I'm currently Painting up a load of Titanicus Scale Armigers and I shrunk down a 40k Las Impulsor so I could convert up 2 Knight Preceptors to lead them.

think this one might be the best one yet.
it seems, unlike most of us, who's quality of of paintjobs go a bit lax as the wight of the project starts to make you wane a bit, enthusisam wise, you've been getting better and better jobs on these paintjobs as you go along, despite the volume of models done!
as the first one was shit-hot to start with, Its now a surprise to see it just gets better and better!
particularly nice white and the gold is real crisp too! more please! ;)

I'm working 11hour night shifts this week. Then it's half term week so wont be getting much done for a few weeks. At least not on the Warmaster anyway. I have a weeks leave after that though so will hopefully be able to get the legs done then.
I'll try and get the Armigers and Preceptors done in the mean time as they're pretty simple.

I've been printing stuff off like a mad man. Especially since GW kindly just released rules for Armigers!! So I've painted 5 more of the little fellow. That gives me 6 Helverins and 8 Warglaives.
I have no idea on the rules as yet but figure they'll come in units of 3 (as that's the set) so I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to pain 1 more Warglaive up. I'll also need to paint up another Preceptor as I'll count them as just normal Knight Errants for now.

Ok, I've been quiet but busy!! I've started an Orc and Goblin Warmaster and printed off a 1000pt list for starters so expect pictures of that soon. Plus, to continue with the fairly eclectic spread of Specialist games I've found myself into...
I've printed off a fairly large crashed system ship for Titanicus Terrain. It is still a fair way to completion. I need to do the bridge, finish the 'wings' and add some more interior details. Then base it.

I managed to get some more work done on my Warmaster. He's essentially done. I just need to add decals, freehand and maybe some weathering in certain areas. Plus neaten up the mistakes that the close up pictures have pointed out to me :facepalm:

Thanks mate, that's appreciated :) Maybe when they release an Emperor I'll be happy with my painting. HAH! as if.... I still have 6 Warlords, 2 Reavers and 2 Warhounds to go for this force anyway. :-\
I now have to go back and redo the bases for my other titans now though. As on their bases the stone/rocks were painted the same colours as the sand.

Erm, yeah, it's certainly not quick. But it's not that bad now I've decided to spray the armour separately with Corax white. Then it's just a thin coat (or two) or Corax white and White and then highlighted up with white.
The black takes the most work. That's about 7 layers. :o

lols, got to the point where it feels like im older than everyone these days! LOL my niece saw a video cassette in a second hand shop and asked, "whats this?" (facepalm)
anyway, regarding the model sales/hosting I'd say follow your inital gut instict of (unless I'm mistaken, here) no.
its best to err on the side of caution with these endeavours as there are many things that could go wrong.
one of which is seeing your lovely designs getting diluted with other things. Yes, I know that sounds petty, but it is still a factor to consider, lots of time and effort went into them and they are part of your artistic expression and all that jazz...
also, when selling your own products, often, creatively, the best hands are your own.
last thing you want is a load of piss-poor recasts giving your dhips a bad name. just remember those bad recasts of Admgr's 'razor' Light cruisers that you and I got hold of. savage mould slip on the keels and they had also been printed at too high a scale, making them rather large for light cruisers and that really spoilt what was +/- a damn good model.
I know its potentially a great opportunity but I'd be on the fence is all...
don't mean to be captain negative here,
just food for thought from a bitter old curmudgeon... ;)
