Title: TB Line returning!
Post by: Aquahog on May 24, 2016, 12:59:15 PM
News  (http://www.10mm-wargaming.com/2016/05/aster-wargame-are-selling-tb-line.html) that TB Line, Tridente Bologna, is returning or at least available again. And there was much rejoicing!

Where and when?

A Roman webshop, Aster Wargame, is beginning to stock them again. Search for TB4 to find the knights they've made available so far. More to follow according to 10mm wargaming.com

This is great news. I bought quite a few Mongols (to convert into hobgoblins) and they're excellent miniatures with plenty of variety.

It seems they have split the TB references, making groups of knights with lances, knight with one hand weapon.

I have the idea TB references have at least 4 different poses, and I could see in the pics only two of them.

can anyone who had "european light cavalry" corroborate that ?

or had anyone the original catalogue of TBline?

This post (http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?topic=5696.msg48116#msg48116) indicates that for light cav it was always two separate units.

Good point Aquahog!,

I would feel more comfortable if there would be an entry in the 10mm catalogue with the original reference and picture of the figures. But I guess there the shop is selling full TB line references

good to hear they're coming back, frustrated that I dropped some serious coin on second hand GW models when I thought my TBline plans had gone down the toilet, but such is life I suppose!

Presumably they didn't loose to much value in the mean time? EBay is going crazy. But if you have had time to paint them spread I can see why you don't want to give them up.

nah I've still got a great looking army, plus it's GW-legal so I can use it at WHW without fear of getting in trouble :)

Hi guys

Just be aware that Aster is charging 25 euros postage for 28 euros worth of figures (five blisters?) from Italy to Spain and I was quoted 25 euros postage for two blisters of figures to Australia  :o :o :o

Maybe 25 euros is the standard out-of-Italy postage? May have to wait until some friend visits Italy  :'(

Cheers

They returned 9 euros to me after posting (to Sweden). Still steep but more reasonable.

It was on their iniative. Don't know if they saw me complaining on Facebook first.

Today my figures should arrive, and they did not. 25 euros from italy to spain and do not meet the 4 working days of delivered. I am not satisfied at all.

So to night I will send them a "message".

If they have the policy of adjust the prices at the end, could be ok, but they should advice them, because the feeling is they are abusing the customer.

Aster wargame comunicate me the following:

"our shopping cart has miscalculated the postage, they are euro 16.00 and not euro 25.00.

Soon we will make a refund of euro 9.00.

Excuse the inconvenience."

For me still a high postage but acceptable.

Now I will enjoy more the new figures.

By the way, now they have 7 references of Tb line.

I think the 4 days is how long they expect the item to be mailed after order - not received by the customer. Going by their ebay page they expect items delivered to Spain in 2-3 weeks. Australia is 4 -6 weeks and this is with a 25 euro postage fee. I still find that UK postage rates are reasonable and I'm hoping a British trader will stock these.

Cheers

It makes sense.

But I would be happier if the store web did not mention "4 working days". If someone is not going to fullfil the conditions of his buisness it is better say nothing.

Anyway, It seems I am the "grumpy" now... the good point is that TB line is available and there is a solid possibility that the range expande with phalange and other references...

Indeed my friend. A relaxed delivery time is much quicker than no delivery time at all. I'm just so happy that one extinct line is back.

I'm having a hard time navigating the site, I can't seem to just single out TB line stuff, anyone else have that problem?
Also I know very little about the TB line.  How does it stack up with other miniatures/.  From the pictures I've seen, they look very pretty, but a little cartoony.  Of course that's no problem with lots of GW stuff, but how about with more historical minis?

Quite right Aquahog They are back and while I'm not happy with the postage Italy-Australia at least there is a faint chance I can get them again  :D. Talking of extinct lines has anybody heard anything about Obelisk? I can imagine some of their figures could be handy too.

Caribs, Incas etc too

Apart from GW, any other extinct 10mm lines out there?

Cheers

@Tiberius, wite in te search tool the word "TB4" and then it filter for TB line products.

Obelisk are super. It is a shame they do not grow their references. They make a very interesing historical period for gaiming as at the same time a super Dog of War range and some "savage people". The 28mm stuff of obelisk is also super.

About discontinued in 10mm, as far as I know:

- Some old ranges of Pendraken, like romans, ACW, LOA, etc...

- Some isolated references of Pendraken with low quality, in example Sentry gun in Sci fi range (marines), the old grimm reaper figure. Normally they substitute it for another modern sculpt.

-  TB line whole line. If rumors are ture:
cited by Wertor in Pendraken forum "Aster Wargame is a trader well known in italy and has a lot of wargames brands in its catalogue (Warlord, Victrix, 4ground exc). Corrado (the owner) is a wargame entusiast and knows his businees. I know that he has purchased the TBLINE range, including the molds, the masters and the stocks and he is in touch with Cosimo Auricchio, the sculptor. The complete range will be available soon and i hope that will be expanded too: i heard thaT some new sculpts, including macedonians pikemen and italians were almost ready."

-Chariot Miniatures. But I am not sure of this. It seems Paul from Magister Minillitum buy the whole range of 10mm when MM starts, so technically those miniatures are now available as Magister Millitum. I read those in a interview with Paul, but I could not confirm it as long as I did not see the old Chariot Miniatures catalogue. It is ture that I saw old Chariot Miniatures blister in ebay and they look like MM figures. They have a own style of sculpt.

-Perrin Miniatures. They make a whole range of romans for Rick Priestley when they release the WMA. Now they are discontinued.

-Timeline 300 (steam punk and a couple of references of non-40K) and Abominiation (some studio with other name, only a couple of references of ogres non-GW). Finally the studio bet for drop 10mm and focus to 6mm non-epic.

-Tajima miniautres.... is in the line of discontinuing. Only 1 reference of 10mm, very intersting east evil men. Now you can not buy it in bare metal but still availabe painting in the studio.

- Yann or barbarian proyect of evil men... it is a kick starter,  so I think it is discontinued.

-There were a manufacturer of 10mm WWII (who was a dentist aside of running the company) He had some legal problems of something and drop the miniatures. It happens last year... but can not remember the name of the company now... Maybe skytrex is the name

As far as I now those are the discontinued 10mm figures

Regarding obelisk

I was able to order the full range from Markus at Tsuba miniatures. He didn't have the 10mm stuff listed on his store - but was happy to fulfil them

http://tsuba-miniatures.blogspot.co.uk

Be aware that the Obelisk stuff is on the large side of 10mm

Today Package from Aster arrives.

Impressions:

- The shipping cost is what I paid to Aster. Could be high but is what it is to ship from Italy with guarantee of succed.
- There is no original TB blisters/package
- Package is solid and miniatures well protected.
- Triptic enclosed with advertising of Aster wargame showing images of TB line. No reference of TB line in the trptic. This is coherent with the thesis Aster own the moulds.
- I did not check yet is the content of the references is exactly the same as TB line blisters.
- Very nice figures and I could not see exceed of flash or signs of wrong cast.

To know the truth about if TB line will be again cast up. I ask directly to Aster Wargame. I am copying you my original message and the respond that I obtain today.

Hi Marly,

I would like to ask you a question about the TB line figures you are selling.

Are those references material you have in stock and when the stock is over you are not be able to provide the reference?

or you have the moulds and you are going to cast the reference if you stock is over?

thanks in advance,

Jorge

Great news.  I bought a few TB minis from Aster and I was very impressed by the quality of the sculpts and the size comparison with GW originals and Eureka.  Lots of options now for WM players who want Araby, Albion, Bretonnian, Cathay, or Kislev armies.  You could even use Mongols as proxies for Orcs?

Anyone know how the TB Mongols (used as hobgoblins) would look scale-wise next to Eureka Chaos Dwarf minis? Or what do other using for hobgoblins?
Title: Re: TB Line returning!

@toadie, just put a Eureka CD alongside a TB Mongol on foot.  Top of CD's helmet level with the Mongol's shoulder.

@toadie, Apologies, forgot to answer second part of your question.  I've used Copplestone Orcs as Hobgoblins.  The Archers and Wolf Riders.

Interesting suggestion... TB foot mongols as Hobgoblins... :)

I also came to the conclusion that Copplestone orcs were better used as Hobgoblins. Their Half-orcs also look pretty good for use as Hobgoblins.
