I'm trying to make sense of some of the lists in the army builder app for Warmaster.
They vary a lot between slight tweeks to Brets or High Elves, to very wild fan lists like Beastmen. It intrigues me that there are TWO araby variants, for example. They seem to have ideas that are interesting, but rules that are a a little too complex and some units that don't really have any viable proxies for. The "Roc"/"Ruhk" in the Araby Tribal list sounds interesting but not sure I'd like to try and convert one.
I was just wondering if these had all appeared in the Warmaster or SG magazines, or if some were simply ones proposed at tournaments from years gone by.

Some armies in that booklet are the suggested (and usually played) tournament variant
Some where featured in the magazines
We had two fan-based "design" teans over the years, the first being Project Norse (which did "get" some minis from it however). THe second being the Oriental Warmaster Team. Their results where, among others: two Araby lists (to reflect either the wealthier Arab cities and the roaming desert raiders. The Nippon lists and Cathay also spring from there, as well as the Indies list that found final fruitatrion in the French forums (IIRC) and there was Shangri-la list which reflected the long (un)living.
The Araby lists where with Andy and Rick when Studio got a whiff of them. We were called of and they where then "properly" 8) ::) done (with miniatures) by Studio (at that time if I recall corectly, with the intention of also going into WHFB
Other lists stem from fans that chapioned either a certain army and from scenario based setting (eg. the Dwarf Slayer Army)

Cool! Thanks for clearing that up!
I'm rather glad that the Goblin List now has some great models in the form of the Polar Fox store. =)

I do not have shangri-la list. Any idea where to get it?
Never got past playtest, it may be around in the Yahoo group, or on one of my back-ups.

True! My first entry into the Warhammer world was Fantasy 6th Ed...and I was an O&G player. Seeing that these Spear Chukkas and Doom Divers and Pump Wagons cannot be mixed with regular orcs makes me sad though!

Why not? The warmaster rules are abstract enough that bolt throwers and doom divers could easily proxy as rock lobbers and pump wagons could work as chariots or even just mixed in with the goblins for a chaotic and crazy look!

I am planning to use the doom diver as a character. The launcher will be on the table for show and the flying fella will be the character. Representing orders sent out on the battlefield for troops to collect ;)
