Hello - thought I'd post the topic here.
BOFA is gone - and I never played it, and am not familiar with the rules or the model ranges that appeared and disappeared.
Therefore, I was wondering what your recommendations would be for someone starting an army for Good and Evil.

These guys seem the best bet for the basics - lovely looking models - more LOTR era than BOFA era I guess, though? And lacking in Dwarves. Of all the dwarven ranges out there, is Eureka the best? Pendraken ones look a bit ungainly and exaggerated to me.
Any pointers?

for middle earth dwarves I like the look of magister millitum

Thanks, I'll suggest them. I think he is so invested in 28mm now it will be hard to turn his head though. =-<

OK I'm looking and the Magister Militum stuff looks good! The Dwarves look right and the Elves look absolutely perfect for the LOTR / BOFA proxies.

I was looking for good Gondor Cavalry proxies:

Can't seem to find anything that really looks distinctly ahistorical or matches the movies. These seem to be pretty good options.

Just been looking at the Kalistra knights. Been looking all around for specific comparison shots with GW but not finding so much. Wondering if I could use the High Elf cavalry from Kalistra as Gondor cavalry, and the Silver Helms from GW as Knights of Dol Amroth...

Be aware that Kallistra cavalry is big. At least as big as Empire knights, so a lot bigger than Silver Helms.

For evil goblins look for steppe goblins coming soon . There is also lots of figures from magister militum coming out .
