Title: Warp Rift: Online!
Post by: horizon on January 13, 2013, 07:03:12 PM
Hello everyone,

Warp Rift is not gone!
Last few months Vaaish has been working on a Warp Rift dedicated website:

http://twolandscreative.com/warprift/

Right now we have a couple of new articles online, the 2012 GothiComp gallery and all previous issues of Warp Rift.
The idea is to fill the site regular with new articles and at some point release new issues of the ezine itself.
So, enjoy the site and get writing: there is a new site to host your Battlefleet Gothic articles!

oh, and hi again everyone. I've been somewhat indisposed with finishing up my graduate work the last 6 months or so but hopefully I'll be more active in the coming days.

minor update to the site, Horizon sent me the links to the images for gothicomp 2011 and 2010 so I've added them to the gothicomp galleries.

Nice to see the website being updated.

I noticed in the sub-plot variants article the text has been posted twice (as if it has been copied into he document twice).

Also, on the view all articles page, their are two pages of articles but none of the buttons to move to the second page are working for me (i.e. "next" "2" "end"). I'm using Google Chrome if it helps.

Article date is pretty important too. :)

Hi,

thanks for the feedback.

the double text is fixed.

Vaaish and I shall look into a date setting.

On the 2nd page: there aren't enough articles to get a 2nd page, I think it is a website default. Vaaish should be able to tell more about it.

The nav issue should be fixed now. If it shows up, just refresh the page. I'll look into adding an article date.

More Warp Rift! Hooray!! I again say well done to everyone! It's really great to have such a staple resource to link the BFG community!

Maybe I should think about mobilating some of my ideas towards it.... One day, at least :).

WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!   Thank You Thank You very very much all. Back when GW stopped making new ships for BFG, years ago....it was your e-zine that kept me from quitting the game. So thank you again, honestly. :)

Just a note, I have plans to update the site template eventually to be responsive and a bit easier for editors to work with when posting new articles.

Hi guys,
i was wandering if Warp Rift will ever be republished ?
On the website you were talking about "Our key goal is still to publish more issues in the future."

Is there something in WIP about ?
Could be nice to produce a magazine by year...

Hi Pix,

ya well. Warp Rift is kind of inactive at the moment. Vaaish is busy. I am busy. Then there was a time with no InDesign available, I do have that software back but time time time.

Though I really would like to do another issue at one point. Problem is that if I wait to long the whole thing will be for a ghost community, lol.

The thing I had in mind was to do a focus on the "new wave" of spaceship miniatures for BFG (Helios, Zeus, Wintermans, yours, etc). Have pieces on what they do how they can be used.
But also a broader scope in which the edges of other games could be scratched. I mean, for the people investing in the BFG community it might be a good thing if other games discover them as well. So as an example how a Helion Firedrake could be used in Firestorm Armada.

Are you wanting to continue with the Khareshi Expanse fluff?

I could help by setting up a system map on the www.aus40k.com website I own and run, similar to what I am part way through doing for the local BFG campaign I am about to kick off (http://aus40k.com/wiki/index.php?title=Phonicas_Sub-Sector:_Battlefleet_Gothic_Campaign).

I am in the midst of preparing to do an overhaul of the 40K site to match the coding and functionality of the 30K version which has received a lot more attention this last six months.

We could try and turn it into a global campaign or something like that? With people battles being logged and the result going towards an evolving storyline?

It's true than it's could be nice to do something with the Khreshi Expanse !!
Finishing the Xenos fleet ?

About the campaign i don't know if it's could be connected to a Warp Rift....
But making a global one could be very interesting too. With all the player lost here and there, it could be a good occasion to gather a lot of people on a BFG project.

And a 30k campaign could be also super nice (especially with the release of the last Horus Heresy by Forge World), but maybe we should start by defining 30k fleet list...

30k articles could be pretty cool, some insights on how the fleets operated back then, or maybe even a beginning of a list compiling all the ships mentioned in the books, The First Expedition (http://z13.invisionfree.com/The_First_Expedition/index.php?showtopic=122) has a pretty updated and accurate one. :)

Hey hey,

@ Dono, sure, go ahead with the Khareshi Expanse if you like. It started as a community project 10 years ago so I will be happy to see it continued.
So write that article!

@ Malika,
if you have 30k articles available (eg fleet list) submit them. :)

Articles can be mailed at either me or Pix.

The First Expedition (but also Bolter and Chainsword) have extensive lists of all the named ships mentioned in the literature (BL publications, rulebooks, etc.), we could do it that we look at each Legion (or a bunch of them) each issue. Don't know who does you artwork (or if you still have somebody for that), but maybe we could share the list on there, add a tiny bit of info on the Legion during the Crusade/Heresy and have a single piece of artwork.

Don't know how interesting that would be for readers?

I think the direction that most of the other forums have taken to a 30K list/conversion is not to try and write a unique fleet list for each Legion (18 of them?!) but instead to write a generic fleet list for the 30K and then have legion specific traits.

@ Horizon - I have two campaigns this weekend, but after that I will try and have a read through the articles and get a feel for the Expanse, are there any images or maps for it at all to give some guidance on what the Sub-Sector would look like?
Title: Re: Warp Rift: Online!
Post by: horizon on January 12, 2015, 10:43:35 PM
Hey,

@ Dono, nope, no map. So all is free to fill in. Only rough guidance is given in the story a bit. Near Tau space. Kar Duniash sector ect.

@ Malika,
readers will read everything. :)
And as of now we are looking at one issue only. So make it big and filled. Thinking of more issues is a really long stretch. A big annual warp rift would be heck-a-cool.

And with Warp Rift articles it necessarily do not need to be community made articles. It can be an article written by one person for example, and then the discussion can take place afterwards. Ofcourse you can co-op with someone to do a specific article.

No worries, I will have a little bit of spare time after this coming weekend, I will try and start putting a Sub-Sector together on the North East edge of the Australis Ultima Sector.

Heya,

Warp Rift kinda went sleeping. But I encourage anyone to pick it up.

If only it would be that someone collected a bunch of written articles. Then someone else (me?) can slap them into a PDF.
Or upload them to the website as a bundle.
