Title: Continuity
Post by: jchaos79 on February 19, 2011, 09:15:15 PM
Hi, as it seems or as far as I know, Rick has left GW.

Do you know if there are plans to continue the WM historical ? (by rick or by another person?)

did rick still support the game through his website?

I had heard rumor of WM Napoleonics, but that was before GW let him go.

I realise that this has probably been covered in other parts of the forum but my understanding is:

Rick tried to get the licence for Warmaster from GW but failed
Now he is doing his own new sets of rules that use a lot of the warmaster rules mechanisms

He has hooked up with Warlord games (good 28mm mini manufacturor)
He has released Black Powder (muskets and bayonets)
He is about to release Hail Caesar (ancients)

There are, apparently, going to be supplements avaialable in the future.
The rules support any scale of figure including 6/10mm.

I may be investing in Hail Caesar and a Baccus 6mm army of Romans.

Does Blitzkrieg Commander count as WM historical?

Not really as it is developed by someone else.
It is a warmaster-esque  experience, similar command structure stats and turns, but it is quite a bit different from warmaster.
We play this and future war commander in addition to warmaster and to be honest the similarities between the systems can muddy the water when you go back to warmaster :(

there was a battlereport in Wargames illustrated, there are similar mechanisms, but more emphasis on stuff like morale and fighting capability etc.

It might be worth teasing Rick into creating the Fantasy Variant..........    Hail the Warmaster    :D

FYI: Hail Caesar rules just got released today (I had pre-ordered it and just received an "order dispatch" notif).
I'll be surprised Rick does create a fantasy version since Warlords has a fantasy range as well.
We will see.

Ricks at Salute this year. I cant go but have asked one of my friends to quiz him about the possibilities of him ever doing a generic fantasy set of rules (i.e. Warmaster II).

If I get any intel I'll let you know.

We played our first game of Hail Caesar on Friday using 15mm Romans vs Thracians.

It played really well. It's about 75% Black Powder and 25% Warmaster in my opinion.
Our group is currently debating whther or not to lauinch into buying 10mm ancients armies to play it.

No intel from Rick I'm afraid.
